Town of Breckenridge is Hiring a Water Technician - Summer Seasonal Near Breckenridge, CO

The Town of Breckenridge Water Department is seeking a dedicated and customer service-oriented individual for the position of Water Technician - Summer Seasonal. This role performs physical, manual, administrative, and skilled work to assist the Water Manager, Water Assistant Manager, and Water Operators in the operation and maintenance of the water distribution system. The primary responsibility for incumbents in this position is to perform fire hydrant inspections and basic maintenance.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must be 18 years of age or older. 
  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATES OR EQUIPMENT REQUIRED:
  • A valid Colorado Driver's license with an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record is required prior to operating any Town-owned vehicles.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
  • Previous experience working in Public Works preferred.
  • One (1) year of experience in water distribution maintenance preferred.
  • Colorado Water Distribution Operator Certification preferred.
  • Experience in one (1) or more of the following areas is highly desirable:
    • Hydrant operation
    • Water distribution
    • Water treatment
    • GIS/GPS
    • Plumbing
    • Carpentry
    • CIRSA and HAZMAT safety procedures
Hiring Pay Range: $21.50 - $22.75 per hour. 
BENEFITS:
  • Recreation Center and Ice Rink Pass OR a Breckenridge Golf Club employee pass.
  • Returning seasonal staff members are eligible for a merit increase based on meeting performance expectations.
  • Potentially furnished seasonal housing available for rent.
  • Begin accruing Paid Time Off (PTO) immediately.
    • Unused PTO is paid out upon separation.
  • Typically four (4) 10-hour shifts with consecutive days off.
SAFETY SENSITIVE: 
This position is considered safety sensitive because the incumbent operates hydrants in high water pressure zones.
WORK SCHEDULE:
Must be able to work shifts including four (4) 10-hour shifts or five (5) 8-hour shifts and up to 40 hours per week as needed or at the discretion of Management.
