Summer Day Camp Music Teacher

DUTIES

We are looking for an experienced music teacher, skilled in playing musical instruments, to be responsible for teaching music as part of the school curriculum. Responsible for the care and supervision of children in the classroom environment. Create an enjoyable learning environment to inspire beginning young minds and help them grow in appreciation of music. Educate students about the fundamental concepts of music theory such as rhythm, melody, pitch, and tempo. Prepare and practice with students general music, singing and playing musical instruments (recorder, flutophone, percussion). Conduct exercises like vocalization, harmonizing, singing, and playing musical instruments. They may also lead rehearsals in preparation for the school’s musical performances.

Music Teacher Responsibilities:

• Teaching music and singing to beginner students.
• Teaching general styles of music.
• Acquire appropriate teaching materials and resources.
• Planning and implementing a program of instruction and lesson plans.
• Motivate pupils and encourage progress.
• Incorporating musical instruments and movement in lessons.
• Preparing students for school concerts and planned music experiences.
• Building relationships and mentoring students.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma

• Must pass a criminal background check

• Must successfully complete a physical

• Some training, experience in music education

• Must be prompt and reliable in reporting in to work

• Must complete 6-Hour Communicable Disease & 6-Hour Child Abuse training within 90 days of hire

• Must have a genuine love of educating children

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

Must complete 6-hour ODJFS web-based on-line childcare orientation, 1-hour ODJFS Child Abuse Prevention web-based on-line training, and 1-hour ODJFS Transportation web-based on-line transportation training.

PAY SCALE:

Job Types: Part-time,

Salary: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour
