The Role:
We are currently looking for a highly-skilled full-time Senior Industrial Designer with extensive experience designing consumer products. These positions are for driven designers with a minimum of 5 years of experience. A combination of strong design skills and mechanical knowledge is a necessity. Applicants must show a history of designs that have gone into production.

These positions will be designing rugged tools and electronic products and involved in the entire development process from initial concept through manufacturing.

Responsibilities:

• Work on a broad range of advanced and diversified design projects
• Bring projects from concept through development to market
• Develop and coordinate presentations in a professional manner detailing the scope of a directive
• Meet established deadlines over long-term projects
• Responsible for executing designs that achieve feasibility at a production and engineering level
• Collaboration across multidisciplinary teams internal and external (Design/ENG/Vendors)
• Create compelling designs based upon Ideation, Research and Product Requirements
• Produce inspiring sketches/illustrations/visuals of advanced industrial design concepts
• Lead the conceptual exploration through competitive assessments, field visits to identify unmet user needs, design trend awareness and purposive ideation
• Follow the solution through all pre-production stages, creating specifications for requirements, product graphics and UI
• Maintain close engagement with process partners to consider cost / schedule / performance trade-offs relating to construction, assembly, etc.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in industrial design, product design or equivalent professional experience
• Minimum of 7 years of experience designing production products
• Highly refined design sensibilities
• Excellent sketching skills is a must
• Strong conceptualization skills and mechanical aptitude
• Basic understanding of manufacturing processes
• Creative problem-solving skills
• Proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator, and Keyshot (or other rendering application)
• Works great both in a team and independently
• Must have a strong work ethic and drive
• Ability to drive the design development process and close on design decisions independently
• Experience with all phases of the design process, including trend research, design strategy, concept development, and manufacturing execution

Additional Skills (strong plus):

• Experience in SolidWorks
• Experience in developing ruggedized products
• Maintains knowledge of current trends in consumer electronics

Salary Range: 80k - 350k

Please note salary is commensurate with design experience, skill-level, and qualifications. A sample portfolio and prototype mockup are a part of the progressive interview process.
