Toscano Clements Taylor recently celebrated our 15-year anniversary alongside our team of 40 employees who work in our offices in New York City, Long Island, New Jersey, and DC. Our vision has remained steadfast since the company’s inception and we aim to continue being a client-focused, boutique cost estimating firm making an impact in the industry. Our goal is to not only make a noticeable impression in the industry, despite being a smaller company, but to leave a memorable legacy as the firm changes ownership and leadership from generation to generation.

Job Summary

TCT has an opportunity for a mechanical cost estimator to join our growing firm. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and timely material and labor cost estimates for mechanical systems (including HVAC, Plumbing & Fire Protection). The estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for mechanical designs on various projects consistent with the project plans and specifications. Job duties include but are not limited to:

• Prepare and maintain Project Level Estimates through various stages of a project, representing the total project scope.
• Utilize Estimating Software such as - On Screen Take-offs, SAGE Estimating, ProEst Estimating, MII Estimating and Success Estimating.
• Follow TCT’s estimating department processes and procedures and review plans and specifications for various projects.
• Develop scope of work with Project Team and prepare order of magnitude conceptual estimates.
• Prepare preliminary, budget, and definitive estimates: Develop quantity takeoff – Can include a hands-on demonstration of material pricing from vendors.
• Develop labor/equipment crew requirements for each work component.
• Develop estimates for comparison to bids received.
• Complete bid reviews for various projects, including major equipment schedules.
• May require attending site visits and/or client meetings.
• Contact vendors and subcontractors to verify adequate pricing the various projects.
• Assemble and evaluate all labor data for final use and input into estimate file.
• Note any special conditions or considerations taken while in take-off mode on drawings.
• Maintain accurate and organized files on all projects estimated.
• Keeping up with the new and changing electrical systems in the marketplace.
• Manage time and deadlines effectively in accordance with estimating schedules.
• Other duties as needed, within scope of the position, as determined by TCT.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience in the Engineering / Construction Cost Estimation field, with an emphasis in cost estimation.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technology related field or equivalent.
• Experience with review of Drawings and Contract Specifications.
• Experience with use of RSMeans or equivalent, historical productivity and cost data.
• A thorough knowledge of computer applications as it relates to Estimation - MS Office (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook) – Can include a hands-on demonstration.
• Must exhibit attention to detail and commitment at the Schematic Design, Design Development, and Construction Documents phases of a project.
• Outstanding organizational skills, excellent time management, and the ability to multi-task in a fast paced, high-volume environment.
• Track record of initiative and establishing priorities, and ownership of work is essential.
• Must possess excellent communication skills, customer service skills to serve both internal personnel and external clients.

Compensation for this role is based upon experience, qualifications and location and typically ranges from $75,000 to $85,000.
