Schedule & FLSA: Full Time, Hourly
Shift: First Shift 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
Duration: Temporary from May - August (Possibility to extend as a part-time employee -- ~20 hrs/wk.)
About the Internship
We are looking for students this summer that want to jump in and design assembly fixtures, build mechanical assemblies, operate power hand tools, and create assembly documentation including mechanical drawings. This will be an incredible opportunity to get hands-on experience in ME/EE engineering with a great company and culture.

Internship Responsibilities
- Build engineering experience by contributing to the assembly and design of the FESS (Flywheel Energy Storage System).
- Partner with cross functional team members to understand other aspects of the design process.
- Create 1-2 initial design projects or assembly fixture designs.

Experience You’ll Need
- Continuing Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Completed Freshman year (2 semesters).
- Strong academic performance, typically reflected by a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Ability to commit to the full duration of the internship program.
- Availability to work the scheduled hours determined by the department's needs.
- Basic understanding of industry principles and practices relevant to the department of interest.
- Working knowledge of Google Office Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, or similar software.
- Eagerness to learn and take on new challenges.
- Authorization to work in the country where the internship is located.
- CAD Experience working with mechanical assemblies and drawings in SOLIDWORKS.
- Machine shop and or welding experience is preferred.
- Previous internship or work experience in a related field is a plus, but not required.

Working Conditions
This position works in an air-conditioned warehouse/manufacturing and cleanroom environments. A break area is available with refrigerator access, microwave, coffee maker, and drink/snack machines.
Physical Requirements
- Must have the ability to safely lift and move objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Must be capable of standing, bending, and executing repetitive tasks for prolonged periods of time.
- Ability to read, identify, observe and recognize details, color-coding and fine print at close range on associated engineering drawings.
- Ability to don personal protective equipment to include, but not limited to, respiratory protective equipment with proper seal, coveralls, ear protection, gloves, eye protection & safety helmet.
- Ability to observe, detect and respond to audible and visual machine malfunction warnings.
- Ability to communicate information so others can understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
- Must report to work reliably and with the ability to use full and unimpaired skills and judgment to safely execute your job.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English required.
