Job Description

At Torch Technologies an FST4 is required to install and repair equipment; instruct customers in equipment operation; provide technical assistance; and check equipment for malfunctions.

Conduct site and equipment inspections in order to perform preventative and corrective maintenance as well as conduct technical training for customer or company personnel, informal on-the-job training for other field service staff members and customers, and over-the-shoulder/refresher training to users in the field as required.

Diagnose and repair mechanical, hardware and systems failures using established procedures. As an FST4, the employee must professionally interface with customers, military personnel, government employees, external consultants/experts, and all levels of employees across the company, including executive management.

Testing and Support of Customers on location at Ranges, Integration Sites, and/or vendor/subcontractor production facilities:

Example Tasks for this Position:

  • Testing and Support of Customers on location at Ranges, Integration Sites, and/or vendor/subcontractor production facilities:
  • Final Acceptance Testing for preparation for delivery.
  • Documenting installation and repairs
  • Maintaining all tools and equipment used
  • Teaching customers how to use the equipment properly and ensure that customers are adequately trained to follow manufacturer’s procedures and instructions in order to keep production equipment operational.
  • Fabrication, Production, and Logistics Support for the preparation of units for delivery.
  • Guidance for design development and manufacturability to design and engineering team.
Job Requirements
  • Training equivalent to 2 years of technical trade school or military technical school and 6 years of field service activity, 4 of which should normally have been within a directly applicable industry.
  • Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected may be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

  • Time-management skills to handle appointments efficiently and stay on schedule.
  • Attention to detail to spot issues and complete accurate reports about the repairs.
  • Organizational skills to keep tools and paperwork organized while in the field.
  • Strong knowledge of production activities
  •  Strong interpersonal skills
  •  Possesses motivation, leadership, mentoring and facilitating skills.
  •  Strong skills in problem solving.
  •  Strong knowledge of process improvement methods and tools.
  • Ability to travel more than 50% of the time. May deploy and operate with U.S. Forces to CONUS or OCONUS field locations.
