Job Summary:
We are looking for a dedicated Dental Assistant to join our Pediatric team. As a Dental Assistant, you will work closely with the Pediatric Dentist to provide quality dental care to our patients. Your main responsibilities will include assisting with dental procedures, taking patient x-rays, maintaining patient records, and ensuring a clean and sterile environment. We encourage recent EFDA graduates to apply! (We will provide training)
Duties:
- Prepare treatment rooms for dental procedures by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary equipment is ready
- Assist the dentist during dental procedures by handing them instruments, suctioning, and providing support as needed
- Take and develop patient x-rays as directed by the dentist
- Perform basic laboratory duties such as pouring models and trimming study casts
- Provide post-operative instructions to patients and answer any questions they may have
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including medical history, treatment plans, and progress notes
- Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean and sterile working environment
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and provide oral health care instructions
- Schedule patient appointments and assist with front desk duties as needed
Skills:
- Proficiency in medical coding and billing procedures
- Knowledge of aseptic technique to maintain a sterile environment
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality
- Strong understanding of dental anatomy and terminology
- Experience with computer-assisted design (CAD) software for creating dental restorations is a plus
- Excellent patient assessment skills to identify any oral health issues or concerns
- Proficient in medical documentation and maintaining accurate medical records systems
