Tomah Health is Hiring a Human Resource Generalist Near Tomah, WI

JOB SPECIFICS

Full-time, benefited; 72 hours per pay period; 7:30am-4:00pm or 8:00am-4:30pm M-F; ability to be hybrid (in house/remote) once orientation and training is satisfactorily completed

JOB SUMMARY

The Human Resource Generalist is responsible for performing or assisting in all aspects of the Human Resources Department. These areas include but are not limited to recruitment and selection, benefits, payroll and employee recognition.

MAJOR JOB FUNCTION

  1. Performs clerical duties for Human Resources as directed.
  2. Serves as back-up to processing payroll and assists with the bi-weekly processing as needed. Is knowledgeable about all reporting as well as end of year processing duties.
  3. Ensures the accuracy of the entry of employees into the payroll and time and attendance system.
  4. Performs recruitment functions including but not limited to: posting position, forwarding applications, conducting phone and in person interviews, facilitating background checks, facilitating reference checks, extending offers, onboarding new hires, and assisting with orientation.
  5. Processes tasks associated employee terminations and communicates separation information.
  6. Administers employee recognition program.
  7. Verifies licensures on staff and updates files.
  8. Assists with management of ancillary employee benefits including but not limited to enrollment, bill reconciliation and employee benefit terminations.
  9. Maintains a working knowledge of all HR related systems (i.e. Evercheck, Universal, ADP, etc)
  10. Handles confidential information such as evaluations, disciplinary memos, staff concerns, etc. in a discreet manner. Files/scans said confidential information appropriately.
  11. Maintains hospital employee handbook.
  12. Assists with HR related inquiries from staff.
  13. Serves as a resource to employees and directors facilitating good employee relations. Provides training and in-servicing related to HRIS systems use and issue resolution.
  14. Collaborates with all members of the HR team and serves as a backup during absences or in an emergent need.
  15. Maintains current knowledge of trends, best practices, and regulatory changes in human resources, performance management, and employment law.
  16. Serves as a resource for implementing and delivering HR strategies and goals determined by the leader of Human Resources.
  17. Performs all other duties as assigned.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  1. Associates degree required, Bachelor’s degree preferred in Human Resource or related Business/Science.
  2. Human Resource experience preferred.
  3. Healthcare experience preferred.
  4. Proficient with Microsoft Office and data entry including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

  1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills including good knowledge of English, spelling and arithmetic to compile reports, maintain records and type assignments.
  2. Excellent human relation skills as demonstrated by the ability to interface positively with all customers and employees.
  3. Must have the ability to work with frequent interruptions, under stress and deadlines and with minimal supervision.
  4. Manual dexterity required for computer use.
  5. Needs to possess a high level of intelligence, integrity, sense of responsibility and ability to comprehend and analyze details.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  1. Duties require normal vision and hearing for both telephone/customer service and computer work.
  2. The HR Generalist is frequently required to stand, walk and reach with hands and arms and is also required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel and crouch.
  3. The HR Generalist must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  4. Position involves frequent prolonged typing while sitting in one position for prolonged periods.
  5. Position requires excellent auditory skills for telephone/customer service purposes.
