Responsibilities

  • Conduct all aspects of project initiation, planning, execution and closeout per industry standards
  • Follow VA and ITOPS IO standards and procedures for internal, Facilities Project Management
  • Develop formal project charters and assist the VA in developing project packages, including market research, statement of work (SOW) and performance work statement (PWS)
  • Support all phases of engineering projects for system maintenance, modifications, upgrades, and removals from an electrical power and environmental perspective
  • Maintain system operational and maintenance logs by tracking scheduled and unscheduled events, record issues and identify potential risks to reliable equipment operations for future engineering review and trend analysis
  • Prepare correspondence, memoranda, reports and related documents as required by ITOPS IO standards or other directives provided by the Government COR/VA RESOURCE LEAD/VAPM
  • Prepare reports required for tracking progress as required
  • Establish and maintain assigned project files for the Facilities Management Section. Maintenance included the development and upkeep of documents used to track project schedules, material delivery, construction progress, modifications, cost
  • Coordinate and oversee activities of vendors performing construction and/or preventive maintenance
  • Knowledgeable in OSHA and other safety regulations
  • Knowledgeable in concepts of hot aisle / cold aisle containment
  • Knowledgeable in various cooling components related to data centers, such as chillers, CRAC units, airflow, raised floor, etc.
  • Knowledgeable in A/B power distribution (redundancy) at the IT cabinet/equipment level
  • Monitor project milestones and critical dates to identify potential jeopardy of project schedule and recommend ways to resolve
  • Maintain a collaborative environment with key stakeholders(s)
  • Exceptional analytical skills with regards to capacity, usage and capabilities of existing data center mechanical systems
  • Review project management activities with VA Management on a periodic basis
  • Review project-planning activities with the Project Team on a periodic and event-driven basis
  • Produce high quality technical and detailed documents

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of experience

  • Experience supporting critical power, cooling and life safety infrastructure directly related to data centers

  • Proficient using Microsoft Office products

  • Proficient AutoCAD user

  • Must have prior experience in supporting the physical, critical infrastructure of large data centers
  • Knowledgeable in OSHA and other safety regulations
  • Knowledgeable in concepts of hot aisle / cold aisle containment
  • Knowledgeable in various cooling components related to data centers, such as chillers, CRAC units, airflow, raised floor, etc.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction or related scientific/technical discipline

Clearance:

  • The ability to pass a Tier 2/Modest Background Investigation
