Schedule: Saturday 9-12

Thrive Nannies is looking for a soft spoken Nanny with extensive Autism experience (such as a Special Education teacher, RBT, OT, SLP) to plan and implement activities for a 9 year old boy who has Autism both in his Dallas home and in the community that would support his growth and development in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.

Ideally, the weekend hours will vary from week to week, arranged in advance and accommodating both the family and nanny’s schedule needs.

The child has Autism and can speak in 1-2 word utterances to communicate his wants and needs. He has a budding interest in educational activities such as shapes, and numbers, and is beginning to read. The family would like the Nanny to nurture this interest and help develop these skills. Activities of daily living, such as teaching him to do his own laundry and going on community outings will also be part of the Nanny’s responsibilities

The family has a small dog and a pool in the backyard, so comfort around dogs and the ability to swim and monitor a child in the water are musts.

General Duties of the Nanny/Attendant Include:

• Engaging in activities that incorporate the child’s interests and support development
• Teaching life skills, such as laundry, and tidying after oneself
• Community outings to build life skills, such as short grocery trips or errands
• Taking the child on outings, supporting his social growth

Qualifications:

• 3 years of experience working with children with Autism
• Ability to plan and implement learning activities aligned to his goals
• Current CPR/First Aid
• Solid Swimmer and able to monitor children in the water
