PART TIME ATTENDANT IN Austin (78746) JOB DESCRIPTION

Near 360 & Waymaker Way, Austin

Dependent: 22 year old Female with an Intellectual Disability and Seizure Disorder

Compensation: $27-29/hour

2 weeks PTO

Guaranteed Hours

Mileage Reimbursement

Start Date: ASAP

Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm, with one later evening per week

(TBD with the attendant’s preferences in mind)

Occasional 24 hour care while parent travels for work (usually 2-4 days at a

time, approximately 4-5 times/year, with ample notice)

Thrive Nannies is looking for a caring, fun, and active attendant to care for a 22 year old female in Austin.

This 22 year old has an intellectual disability and a seizure disorder. She is non-verbal but able to communicate with her caregivers quite well through gestures and other non-verbal means. Her seizure disorder is well managed with medications and knowing her triggers. She requires assistance with personal care such as toileting (pull ups), bathing, and dressing. She is very social and easy-going with no major behavioral issues. She loves engaging with people and getting them to clap for her. She also enjoys books, music, sushi, and going on outings with her caregivers.

The ideal candidate would be someone with experience caring for individuals with special needs, such as a teaching assistant, registered behavior technician, occupational therapy assistant, or similar experience. This caregiver would be an organized person who enjoys creating a fun day and engaging with this young lady, relating to her as a friend would. Comfort with special needs, personal care needs, and seizure disorder is a must.

The girl’s parents are divorced but have co-parented amicably for years. The mom’s home will be “home base” for the majority of the time, however there may be times when care is provided at the dad’s home in the Barton Creek neighborhood of Austin. The family has 3 medium to large dogs and a pool in the backyard, so the attendant needs to be able to swim and be comfortable around dogs.

General Duties of the Nanny/Attendant Include:

• Maintain a safe, healthy environment
• Pick up from adult day program, drive home or to activities
• Plan and engage with her in enriching and fun activities
• Personal care (toileting, dressing, bathing)
• Preparing meals and snacks
• Tidying up after self and the young lady

Qualifications:

• 3 years of Caregiving Experience
• Current CPR/First Aid
• Experience with individuals with special needs
• Strong Swimmer
• Comfort around dogs
