SUMMER POSITION HOME EDUCATOR IN SOUTH AUSTIN

Near St. Elmo Elementary School

Child: 9-year-old boy with Autism and ADHD

Compensation: $28-30hour

Guaranteed Hours

Mileage Reimbursement

Start Date: July 9th-August 16th

Schedule: 31 hours per week

Tuesday: 9am-5pm

Wednesday: 10am-4pm (6 hours family is flexible on the start/end time)

Thursday: 8:30am-6:30pm

Friday: 9am-4pm

Thrive Nannies is looking for an assertive, active educator nanny to care for a nine year old boy with Autism for six weeks this summer.

The child likes being outside and engaging in outdoor activities such as hiking, going to the pool, laser tag, swimming and other fun physical activities.

The child just finished 3rd grade and is academically at a 1st/2nd grade level. The family is looking for someone to help tutor him during the day. He is a social, happy child who enjoys socializing with his friends in the neighborhood.

The ideal candidate would have a teaching certification, be active, and assertive. The ideal candidate would structure the day to where there is a mixture of academic work and fun summer activities for him to participate in. The ideal candidate would be someone who is able to balance structure and being assertive while also having a kind gentle personality. He learns best when sensory activities are incorporated into the learning and the ideal candidate would be able to incorporate sensory needs into his activities.

The family co-parents. Most days the nanny would care for the child at the mother’s house. On Tuesdays and every other Friday the nanny would care for the child at his father’s house; dad’s home is currently near the mother’s home, but he will be moving over the summer about 20 minutes away from the mother’s home in the Oak Hill neighborhood. The mother’s home has cats. The father’s home has a dog, cat, and chickens. No animal care is needed of the candidate, but they must be comfortable working in a home with pets. The child enjoys outings and driving is required of the candidate.

General Duties of the Nanny/Attendant Include:

  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment for the child
  • Tutoring the child (2-3 hours a day) in academic activities
  • Driving the children to/from activities
  • Engaging in meaningful, developmentally appropriate activities and interactions that build connection with the children
  • Clean up after the child’s use (toys, dishes, etc) and/or teach the children to clean up after themselves as developmentally appropriate.
  • Lunch, Snack, and Dinner prep for children (simple meals)

Qualifications:

  • 3 years of caregiving experience
  • Current CPR/First Aid
  • Teaching Certification (Special Education preferred)
  • Experience working with children with Autism
  • Ability to Swim and monitor children safely in the water
