Thompson Concrete Foundations is Hiring a Diesel Mechanic Near Columbus, OH

Job Summary:
The Mechanic will perform repair work and maintenance on cars, trucks, and other motor vehicles in the company fleet.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Follows Mission, Vision, Values
  • Maintains vehicles, which may include the company’s fleet of cars, trucks, heavy equipment, tractor/trailers, and other motor vehicles
  • Identifies mechanical problems, either visually or with computer diagnostic equipment
  • Performs tests on specific parts and systems to confirm mechanical function; ensures that all critical parts are examined
  • Performs routine and preventive maintenance, including oil changes and tune-ups
  • Repairs or replaces malfunctioning parts and systems, such as brake pads, belts, water pumps, transmissions, and other mechanical parts
  • Performs further tests, which may include test driving the vehicle, to ensure repairs are completed correctly
  • Completes work orders upon completion of maintenance for management approval
  • Maintains heavy equipment that includes hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical machinery
  • Maintains and clean and safe work area
  • Thoroughly cleans machines and machine parts, removing parts and reinstalling as necessary
  • Repairs broken company fleet vehicles and machines quickly and efficiently
  • Sets Safety example by always following safety guidelines and complies with proper safety procedures and PPE
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Ability to use hand and power tools to repair ground support vehicles and equipment
  • Ability to follow instructions
  • Excellent knowledge of all aspects of vehicle repair
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to read service and repair manuals
  • Proficient with computer diagnostic equipment and software
  • Ability to visually diagnose mechanical issues
Education and Experience:
  • 3 years of related experience required
  • Valid drivers license or State ID
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods working on vehicles and equipment
  • Must be ablet to physically access vehicles and equipment either by kneeling or lying on back
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and push/pull 50-pound loads at a time

  • Clothes with no large holes or cut offs for varying weather conditions
