Job Description
Think Big America, an organization founded by Illinois Governor JB Pritzker to support abortion rights and combat far-right extremism throughout the country, is hiring a Senior Research Associate and a Research Associate. The organization has already achieved notable wins by assisting in passing a constitutional amendment restoring abortion rights in Ohio and contributing to legislative candidates whose victories will ensure that Virginia stays a pro-choice state. In 2024, Think Big is expanding its efforts to help with pro-choice ballot measures in Nevada and Arizona and is in discussions with numerous other states.
Research staff will play a vital role in working with all departments and consultants to support TBA’s mission during the 2024 election cycle. The application process for Associate and Senior Associate is the same. Experience and performance on a writing test will determine whether a candidate is offered Associate or Senior Associate.
Candidates who are comfortable handling the following responsibilities and have the appropriate skillset at an entry level are encouraged to apply.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
·Researching candidates on a variety of issues, not limited to abortion rights, to determine their suitability for endorsements.
·Work with staff and consultants on fact checking ad scripts, video scripts, social media content, and press releases.
·Performing opposition research on elected officials, donors, and organizations opposed to TBA’s mission.
·Vetting participants in TBA events.
·Provide up-to-date reporting on the latest changes in abortion rights throughout the United States.
·Tracking statements by candidates opposed to abortion rights throughout the country.
·Work with the Communications Director on media pitch documents.
QUALIFICATIONS
·At least 1 cycle of political research experience.
·Proficiency in the use of basic research tools such as LexisNexis, campaign finance databases, legislative research, and social media research.
·Ability to assist in rapid response and quickly turn around fact checks and backups.
·Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college is preferred.
