SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY:

Kitchen Support Staff provides supportive services for the program’s goal of promoting children(s) and family’s emotional well-being while they reside in Interim Housing. The Kitchen Support staff promotes a strengths-based approach to nutritional services that empowers families, supports a community-based philosophy of service, and ensures that all services are aligned with the agency’s mission, vision, and core values. The Kitchen Support Staff will provide and expand collaboration with food vendors and partners to promote healthy collaborations benefiting families in Interim Housing. Targeted population includes children (Birth to age 18) and their families. Kitchen Support Staff works closely with Shelter Manager of Safe Families to promote healthy and nutritional services for site-based families. This will be a one month contract.

JOB DUTIES:

§ Maintains the responsibility for ensuring services are delivered within the scope of required services and TWC Mission, Vision, and Values

§ Will practice Trauma Informed, Housing First, Harm Reduction, and Low Barrier

§ Follow all food handler certification standards.

§ Provide support during food centered events for participants including but not limited to holiday events, parent meetings and/or groups.

§ Responsible for reporting health and safety concerns that are in violation of Interim Housing guidelines.

§ Works closely with Director of Interim Housing and Shelter Manager to coordinate the needs of food and kitchen supplies for the Interim Housing Site

§ Creates and post menus for breakfast and lunch as outlined by contract requirements.

§ Coordinate with internal and external partners to meet the food consumption needs of the facility.

§ Coordinate with Gateway’s staff for the cleaning of the kitchen and inside/outside dining.

§ Coordinates monthly fumigation impacting the kitchen.

§ Maintains the dinning area both inside and outside patio.

§ Submit maintenance request as needed.

§ Is responsible for serving lunch and dinner to interim housing residence and the preparation of breakfast for the following day Monday through Friday.

§ Supports with grocery and/or donation inventory and organizing groceries and/or donations.

§ Aids shelter staff to address crisis situations and ensures the Grievance Process adheres to safety and housing practice protocols.

§ Maintain confidentiality in matters of agency operation, personnel, and clients.

§ Exercise good judgment in performance of all duties and responsibilities, including maintaining good boundaries and professional conduct.

§ Other related duties as assigned and approved by the Director, Interim Housing

REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE OR TRAINING:

· High School Diploma.

· Minimum of 4 years of work experience related to providing kitchen support or food handler services.

· Valid California driver’s license and valid auto insurance.

. Bilingual in English and Spanish
