POSITION OVERVIEW


The Middle School administrative assistant is a part-time employee who provides consistent, professional, confidential support for Student Life activities with specific guidance from the Director of Student Life. The Middle School Assistant balances multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with warmth, humor, empathy, and grace to ensure the effective operation of the Middle School.

Supervisors: Head of the Middle School

Supervisory Responsibilities: N/A

Position Status: Part-Time, 25 hours per week that follows the academic calendar

Hours of Work: 25 hours a week. Monday - Friday. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Coordinate activities on the Middle School Master Calendar

  • Assist in the management of Middle School Assemblies, Community Time and Monday Morning Meeting

  • Manage Morning Announcements related to Student Life and Homeroom Activities

  • Coordinate off-campus field trips and Grade Level Retreats

  • Assist in arrangements for Christian Emphasis Week

  • Help coordinate Student Leadership activities, including Chapel Council 

  • Oversee communication and organization for Middle School Bible Study and Prayer Groups

  • Run budget reports, order supplies and reserve spaces for student activities

  • Support Homeroom Activities

  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS


  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher preferred

  • Strong interpersonal, writing and communication skills

  • Demonstrated proficiency with scheduling and organization

  • Demonstrated proficiency with technology, including Google suite, spreadsheets, calendaring software, and databases; Veracross experience and proficiency preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and discretion

  • Previous experience in an educational administrative role preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, and feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl; talk and hear; and engage in moderately strenuous physical activity both indoors and out. The employee may occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to become CPR and First Aid Certified.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and may frequently walk on slippery or uneven surfaces. The noise level in the work environment is frequently loud.

TRAVEL

Travel is primarily local during the regular business day. Overnight and out-of-area travel are not required.
