The West Texas Rehabilitation Center is Hiring a RECEPTIONIST-HOSPICE OF SAN ANGELO Near San Angelo, TX

The Receptionist is responsible for assimilating seemingly unrelated activities into a cohesive whole structure, organization, and planning when necessary, along with the ability to explain plans and goals to others. There is a need for knowledge and understanding of WTRC policies, procedures, philosophies, general business practices, budgeting and finance, and regulatory climate as well as the profession and industry.

  • Performs tasks and administrative functions outlined herein or as assigned by the Director of Hospice.
  • Distributes memos, letters, etc.
  • Assists with inventorying office materials to ensure adequate supply, and prevent fraud, waste, or abuse.
  • Controls expenses not to exceed the budget.
  • Check for deaths and admits from overnight or after the weekend and send notifications.
  • Schedules and arranges necessary meetings.
  • Maintains files as required.
  • Greets visitors and makes them feel welcome and comfortable.
  • Answers phones and relays messages accurately.
  • Maintains a monthly log of deaths with pertinent information and Bereavement letter.
  • Collects and puts away donations of supplies. Donates or discards any unusable items.
  • Sorts small supplies into bags for patients/families.
  • Notifies physician's office, pharmacy, and DeltaCare upon patient discharge/death and logs information into discharge book.
  • Responsible for opening office, unlocking the elevator, and rolling phones back from on-call service.
  • Responsible for gathering information for the weekend/holiday on-call list and forwarding to the supervisor for completion.
  • Responsible for keeping the dressing and OTC cabinet stocked.
  • Adheres to deadlines.
  • Keeps others adequately informed as needed.
  • Exhibits good listening and comprehension.
  • Deals effectively with difficult situations and uses negotiation skills to resolve conflicts.
  • Treats patients, families, and staff with respect and compassion while maintaining and respecting confidentiality
  • Does not gossip or harm others in conversation.
  • Performs other responsibilities as assigned.

This position requires endurance to perform tasks over long periods of work hours and the ability to perform essential functions without posing a "direct threat" in the workplace. Must be able to lift 25 pounds.

High school graduate or equivalent, some college is preferred but not required. Advanced knowledge of clerical skills is necessary, and 2-3 years of work experience is required. Ability to perform the following efficiently: typing, filing, compiling data, the ability to prioritize, and the ability to handle multiple projects, and completing assignments timely. Ability to work with other personnel. Excellent verbal, non-verbal, and written communication skills.
