Job Summary: This position will serve as the full time Laboratory Manager (5 days/week) in the Gottschalk Laboratory in the Department of Immunology. Applicants should have an educational background in cell biology, molecular biology, immunology, or biochemistry. Research experience in mouse work and lab techniques including cell culture, western blot, PCR analysis, and flow cytometry is desired. The candidate will be expected to manage ordering, perform complex laboratory work, independently develop methods, coordinate all research activities related to a specific research project, help train other lab members, and manage several collaborative research projects. Job Duties: 40% Perform complex laboratory work, independently develop methods, coordinate all research activities related to a specific research project. Procedures include cell culture, Western blot, qPCR analysis, quantitative imaging, and spectral flow cytometry using mouse immune cells. 20% Serve as a project manager to coordinate and perform collaborative experiments to support four to five multi-PI projects at a time. 10% Handle and manipulate rodents. Perform complex mouse dissections and tissue processing. 15% - Coordinate with a moderate-sized research lab in close quarters. Develop and maintain infrastructure for organization of lab samples and supplies. Manage ordering and communicate with vendors. Help to train and appraise other lab members. 15% Analyze and interpret data: Perform calculations, tabulate and statistically manipulate, and visualize data.
