Description

The Engineer Manager is responsible for overseeing team work orders, schedules and coordination with other departments. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills for optimal interaction with associates and guests. 

*Wednesday through Sunday availability preferred.

Responsibilities

• Builds, repairs, and paints all parts of the hotel.
• Installs and replaces lighting fixtures and bulbs.
• Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment.
• Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts.
• Installs and repairs electrical wiring and electronic components.
• Repairs and maintains physical structure of Hotel, Spa and Grounds.
• Paints corridors, hotel rooms, and lobby areas when necessary.
• Transports heavy boxes and packages necessary for maintenance and repairs.
• Assists in delivering and set-up of all new equipment such as televisions, mattresses, tables, chairs, etc.
• Communicates with Supervisor and Chief Engineer regarding assigned projects.
• Responds to all customer requests in a timely and personable manner using guest name.
• Completes assigned work orders for general repair within assigned time frame in order to achieve the utmost operational efficiency of the hotel and its equipment.
• Performs systematic checks and inspections to aid in the upkeep of the hotel and assists in the established preventative maintenance program in order to prevent malfunctions, breakdowns and general depreciation.
• Maintains tools, work spaces and equipment in safe, secure and good condition to prolong their use and reduce accidents.
• Adjusts and repairs electronic problems on hotel equipment, including televisions, telephones, in-room equipment, etc.
• Assists department in maintaining safety equipment and emergency procedures for the safety of all guests and associates.
• Maintains a friendly, cheerful and courteous manner at all times.
• Clean and repair guest room walls, tiles and baseboards.
• Clean all air vents, dust ceiling/remove cobwebs.
• Clean and repair guest room entry doors and door frames.
• Minor furniture touch-up and repairs.
• Additional duties as assigned, requested or deemed necessary by management.
• Removes snow and scoops sidewalks and driveways as weather dictates for safety of guests.
• Runs errands as needed, driving company vehicle, in order to drop off and pick up supplies, equipment and furnishings.
• Provides assistance to other employees and departments to contribute to the best overall performance of the department and hotel.
• Be point person for other departments as go-to person for assigned shift.
• Maintain organized inventory and records.
• Understand/train technical skills needed for safe maintenance operations.
• Perform daily checks of other engineer’s progress to ensure productive and compliant work.

Qualifications

Knowledge

• Must have intermediate working knowledge in the following areas: general plumbing, refrigeration, air conditioning, electrical systems, bathroom fixtures, tiling, painting - prep to finish, basic carpentry, and landscaping.
• Must be able to drive and hold a valid state driver license.
• Must have previous supervisory experience over engineers/maintenance.

Skills / Abilities

• Must be able to read written communiques, reports, read-outs, meters, and computer screens.
• Must have advanced computer skills needed to respond to work orders, emails, etc..
• Must have finger, hand and upper body dexterity to pull levers and rotate knobs, work with arms raised above head and to handle and assemble small parts using basic hand and power tools.
• Must be able to lift 75 pounds.
• Must have ability to crawl, climb ladders, support and carry loads of 75lbs.
• Must have a basic understanding of building operations and ability to troubleshoot building systems to find and solve problems.
• Must be able to understand and follow verbal/written instructions, communicate both verbally and in writing, utilize analytical thought processes, understand verbal/written technical and mechanical instruction, and be highly organized.
• Must have ability to communicate effectively and courteously with employees, guests and contractors in writing, via telephone and in person.
• Must be able to keep detailed inventory of stock.
• Must be a reliable leader who can be a Manager on Duty for engineering and a consistent point of contact for the hotel.
• Must have abilities to teach other engineers technical skills as on-the-job training.
