Homes Built for America is a rapidly growing construction company looking for a self-driven talented full time construction accountant. FULL TIME, IN OFFICE POSITION ONLY, SAN RAMON, CA. OFFICE.

Responsibilities:

  • In this role, you'll be responsible for assisting with the accounting operations for multiple construction projects of the company, reporting to the Controller with significant interaction with other team members.
  • Preparing and processing vendor invoices, coding to job cost, matching with internal POs and submitting invoices for management approval.
  • Reconciliation of vendor statements and resolving payment discrepancies and disputes.
  • Proactively managing and maintaining a variety of documentation such as preliminary notices, lien releases, business licenses, W-9 forms, etc.
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Maintaining vendor certificates of insurance and working directly with 3rd party insurance administrators.
  • Providing month-end accounting close support.
  • Creating new commitments and process commitment change orders throughout the month.
  • Assisting Project Management team in the reconciliation of purchase orders and subcontracts.
  • Providing accurate and effective document preparation and records management relative to the Accounts Payable function in accordance with records retention policies and procedures.
  • Other assigned tasks as assigned.

Requirements/Skills:

  • BS or AA degree in Accounting.
  • 1-2 years’ experience in construction related accounting.
  • An understanding of construction insurance requirements, preliminary notice and lien release procedures, and construction contract terms is a plus.
  • Familiarity with accounting software, such as Jonas Premier is a plus.
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Good written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer and software skills including the ability to operate computerized accounting, spreadsheets (Excel), and Microsoft Office programs at a proficient level is required.
  • Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to work full time in our San Ramon office is required.
