Overview

Tatitlek Federal Services, Inc., is seeking an experienced Regional Advisor – Engagement to support a program with our government customer. The position is based in Washington, DC or at an approved telework location.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Actively maintain and expand the network of contacts among senior and working-level Afghan civil society activists and tribal and religious leaders, for both SCA/CARE and for AAU.
  • Identify key players in local, national, and/or regional politics and when political conditions permit, facilitate the relationships for the AAU and recommend and arrange meetings to support the reporting needs of the office.
  • Maintain communication with the AAU public affairs office, political office, and Charge d'Affaires to brief and analyze news in Afghanistan.
  • Analyze media and political implications of Taliban policies impacting relocation for SCA/CARE.
  • Monitor government and non-governmental political activities by engaging in a wide network of contacts. Attend virtual and in-person meetings, review local and central government publications (including internet sites), social media, NGO reports, (as political conditions permit) MFA briefings, and/or other policy related-documents, paying particular attention to developments related to press freedom, women's issues, Taliban party politics, and policies impacting relocation, among other issues.
  • Synthesize information from various sources, including a wide range of local (Afghan) media, and independently draft concise political updates, ensuring the Afghanistan Affairs Unit in Doha and the CARE office are informed of the key issues, views, and latest developments in local, national, and/or regional politics of strategic importance to United States and on relocation implications.
  • Provide media analysis for AAU and SCA/CARE, via virtual meetings, video recordings, and through summaries of articles in local media outlets and social media.
  • Work with Congress on relocation efforts, including responding to Hill requests for information on specific cases. This includes reviewing cases in Falcon and provided both templated and newly crafted responses.
  • Serve as a speaker at events for the Hill, high-level State department officials, and colleagues on the relocation/migration experience and the state of affairs in Afghanistan.
  • Serve as a Dari and Pashto interpreter at meetings, when needed.
  • Translate Dari and Pashto media and social media posts, as needed.

REQUIRED & SKILLS:

  • At least one year experience working in an embassy or consulate
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office suite)
  • English language (written and spoken) communications skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, coordinate activities and work well in a multi-cultural team environment.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently to assess priorities and manage daily coordination of details with minimal supervision.
  • Fluency in Dari and/or Pashto is preferred but not required.

DESIRED SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.
  • Ten (10) years of management analysis experience.
  • Excellent technical writing skills including spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work with others.
