The Swift Group is Hiring a Database Administrator Near Herndon, VA
Job Description
The Swift Group is looking for a full time PostgreSQL Database Administrator to support the Federal client in design, development, upgrade and maintenance of their cloud based multiuser database environments. This resource will play a key technical role in the administration, development, and implementation of relational Database solutions. This person will play a technical SQL developer and administrator role throughout the life-cycle of the project and will have significant interaction with key client personnel. Other activities include participating in architecture and design meetings with other team members to model databases; and conducting research and evaluation of software-related technologies and products.
Required Skills
- Develop, implement, and maintain database backup and recovery procedures, and ensures that data integrity, security, and database tuning and optimization.
- Configure and deploy PostgreSQL extensions and drive performance monitoring, and capacity planning for PostgreSQL.
- Design and implement automation using scripts and database functions
- Experienced with monitoring and optimizing database performance through pro-active testing and ongoing real-time monitoring and fixing problems that may arise.
- Establish database security and enterprise policy guidelines according to established best practices and protect the database from threats and unauthorized access in AWS cloud environment.
- Experience with open-source such as pgAdmin and pgModeler and AWS RDS for PostgreSQL
- Experience creating and maintaining database objects such as tables, views, index, constraints for data platform and custom applications and experience with Structured Query Language (SQL)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience working in AGILE / DEVOPS team environment
