Position Description:The main function of a database administrator is to coordinate changes to computer databases, test and implement the database applying knowledge of database management systems. A typical database administrator is responsible for planning, coordinating and implementing security measures to safeguard the computer database.
Job Responsibilities:
• Perform MongoDB administration activities required to install and maintain database management software, design and implement predictive analysis.
• Install, configure, provision, operate, and administer database management systems and related software and backend storage server and hardware platforms.
• Design, install, monitor, maintain, and performance tune production databases while ensuring high levels of data availability.
• Provide support to the development and implementation of database policies and procedures to ensure databases' integrity and availability, including software updates.
• Communicate regularly with the development team, business, and operations teams to ensure the security and confidentiality of data.
• Responsible for the availability, reliability, and integrity of business data stored in production databases.
Required Qualifications:
• TS/SCI clearance and ability to pass a poly
• Must have a relevant technical Bachelor's degree (Computer Science, Information Systems, etc.) and minimum 8 years of relevant experience with hands-on database administration. An additional 4 years of experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
• Active Security certification (DoD 8570 baseline certification for IAT Level 2)
• Experience with MongoDB
• Experience with VMWare
• Experience with applying database STIGs
• Experienced with troubleshooting and resolving database performance issues
• Experience writing queries in support of customer requirements
• Independently able to upgrade major database instances
• Experienced with and independently able to employ multiple database backup strategies
Desired Qualifications:
• Experience writing SQL and nonSQL queries to generate system data reports, modify data as necessary, etc.
• Experience with SQL Server, and other database platforms
• Experience in database design and development
• Experience with Linux and Windows Operating Systems
• Familiarity with Agile practices
• Experience with Amazon Web Service (AWS) Cloud experience
• Advanced experience in database monitoring, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and high availability strategies for MongoDB
• Experience architecting, designing, developing, and managing databases using relational databases such as SQL Server
• Advanced knowledge of MongdoDB backup and recovery strategies
• Ability to design, develop, and document technical solutions, standard operating procedures, and change requests.
• Ability to administer Linux/Windows server-based operating systems and CLI w/ scripting.
• Experience with capacity planning, utilization, and performance monitoring (Index, Table, Queries, and Stored procedures).
