We are currently looking for a full-time Maintenance Laborer. The Maintenance Laborer works on a variety of maintenance issues as assigned, to include general maintenance and upkeep of building and equipment.
Hours for this position will be Monday-Friday 7 am-4 pm with some evenings and weekends required.
Responsibilities of the position include:
  • Ensures that the buildings have adequate heating, lighting, and ventilation and that it is properly cleaned and in good working condition.
  • Makes minor repairs and inspections of building and equipment.
  • Installs system component parts, classroom and office equipment and facility components as may be required for the purpose of maintaining facilities in a safe, comfortable and operating condition.
  • Arrange chairs and tables for meetings and events.
  • Arrange office furniture by carrying or lifting furniture to specified locations.
  • Travels to other system locations, or other facilities and supplier locations as assigned, and assists with maintenance tasks as necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements of the position include:
  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of three years related experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously and efficiently while meeting required deadlines.
  • Knowledge of applicable OSHA standards.
  • Knowledge of applicable safety practices and procedures.
  • Basic computer skills, to include use of Microsoft Outlook and Word and the internet.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, employees, students, and general public.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to include evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to read and understand custodial and maintenance equipment manuals.
  • Ability to climb ladders.
  • Ability to work in dusty, dirty, wet, and cold conditions.
  • Ability to use basic maintenance equipment.
  • Ability to walk, kneel, climb, stand, stoop, crouch, and reach when performing floor maintenance activities.
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment, supplies, and furniture up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to hear and speak well enough to communicate with students, faculty, and staff face to face and via the telephone.
