CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • New employees of the Department of Military Affairs will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
  • New employees of the Department of Military Affairs are required to participate in a direct deposit/electronic transfer program.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent AND
  • Five (5) years of professional Administrative experience or related field

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reviews all required promotion or retention board packet documentation (i.e. military education/training, evaluations, record briefs, etc.) prior to board convene date for Enlisted Promotion Systems Boards (E5 through E9), Officer/Warrant Officer and Enlisted Annual Retention Boards and The Adjutant General’s Award Board.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory and statutory requirements and procedures of all Officers/Warrant Officers submitting packets to be federally recognized.
  • Monitors and reviews on a quarterly basis the DA Board selection process for all Captains through Lieutenant Colonels.
  • Assists in preparing all required documentation for the Officer Career Management Board.
  • Conducts research necessary for applicable board in the Interactive Personnel Electronic Records Management Systems (iPERMS) and the Army Training Requirement and Resources System (ATRRS).
  • Responsible for the supervision of three employees to include approving/disapproving leave requests, reviewing and approving weekly timesheets within the People First Management System, initiating performance expectations, completing performance evaluations, and updating position descriptions when necessary. Conducts employee orientation, training, and counseling.
  • Ensures employees complete their required/specified duties accurately and in a timely manner in accordance with applicable regulations and procedures. Assigns additional duties as necessary in order to meet mission requirements.
  • Acts as Senior Personnel State Civilian Team Leader and oversees work activities for two or more military personnel on specialized administrative actions and related duties, Performs specific human resource functions in a military personnel office and human resources support activity.
  • Assists in conducting daily administrative activities and directs special projects. Provides input and recommendations for budget.
  • Reviews and coordinates the implementation of statutes, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Performs a variety of tasks related to general office management and the operation of the various boards.
  • Provides input and recommendations for the efficient management and operation of all boards conducted within the Boards Branch.
  • Provides recommendations on policy and regulatory changes to Branch Chief/Deputy Branch Chief.
  • Represents the Agency while providing technical guidance to all Florida Army National Guard enlisted and officer personnel.
  • Serves as the point of contact and liaison with other professional organizations to include National Guard Bureau, Human Resources Command, First Army, and other states/territories.
  • Carries out assignments given by the Branch Chief and/or Deputy Branch Chief and acts for them during absences.

  • Knowledge of the basic principles of personnel administration.
  • Knowledge of one or more personnel program functions such as selection, classification and pay, employee benefits, labor relations, employer/employee relations or training.
  • Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective communication.
  • Knowledge of the methods of data collection.
  • Ability to collect, evaluate and analyze data relating to personnel program functions.
  • Ability to organize data into logical format.
  • Ability to compose correspondence.
  • Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures relating to personnel program functions.
  • Ability to prepare reports relating to personnel program functions.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
