Your Specific Responsibilities:

The incumbent of this position will facilitate evidence-based sexual risk avoidance (SRA) curricula and promote activities targeting middle and high school youth, their parents, guardians, and significant adults. The incumbent will also plan, facilitate, and participate in community events and presentations promoting healthy lifestyle behaviors. The incumbent will facilitate health education classes in the schools and community organizations. This position is a full time, year-round staff member

Sexual Risk Avoidance and other Health Education and Promoting Activities

Independently facilitates evidence-based SRA curricula and promoting activities to youth, parents, and guardians in community settings in accordance with the project work plan or as designated by the project coordinator. Plans, develops, and facilitates program events and activities. Participates in staff conferences. Develops and maintains working relationships with community partners, community organizations, and governmental agencies to promote the abstinence and other healthy lifestyle messages to the community.

Administrative

Participates in project evaluation and staff development activities. Evaluates and analyzes project activities, recommending changes as needed. Participates in quality improvement activities.

Completes and provides activity report forms, sign-in sheets, and evaluations at the completion of each activity.

Other Duties

  • Incumbent may be required to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. Emergency duty required of the incumbent includes working in special needs or Red Cross shelters, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.
  • This position requires travel to and from trainings, education classes, and community meetings.
  • The incumbent in this position is responsible for the integrity and security of data sets under his or her control.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of computer software to enhance the productivity of the CHD programs.
  • Ability to foster diversity and open communication within teams and programs.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Critical thinking processes using logic and analysis for determining strengths and weakness of programs.

Present information to target audiences with emphasis on their ability to comprehend.

Qualifications:

Preferred:

  • 2 or more years’ experience working with youth in a group setting
  • Teaching certificate or teaching experience

Required:

  • Valid Driver's License
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
