The Rockefeller Foundation is Hiring a Senior Associate, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Near New York, NY

Position Overview

The Rockefeller Foundation is seeking a Senior Associate to provide strategic, programmatic, and operational support for the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion team. This position will work closely with the Vice President of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) to develop and implement the Foundation’s DEI strategy and related initiatives. 

The Senior DEI Associate will engage with a wide set of internal and external stakeholders domestically and globally, and ensure that all DEI initiatives, events, projects, and programs are managed well to achieve their objectives. This role requires a positive, proactive mindset, a results orientation, accountability, attention to detail, and an ability to manage multiple timelines and competing priorities to deliver high-quality work.

Pay Range: $89,188 - $132,831. This represents the present low and high end of the Foundation’s pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary based on various factors, including but not limited to experience. 

Work Schedule: This role is on a hybrid work schedule, and required to be in the office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Strategy Development and Assessment:

  • Partners closely with program and operations staff to gather input and support ongoing DEI strategy development, execution, and implementation.
  • Manages various DEI projects and initiatives and assesses DEI strategic planning by tracking deliverables, milestones, and status updates using project management tools.
  • Supports DEI Committee/Council development and management to implement DEI strategic initiatives, policies, and procedures. 
  • Identifies, onboards, and project manages external consultants, when relevant, to bring additional capabilities needed to develop and support DEI strategic goals.

Event and Project Management:

  • Manages the planning and execution of DEI programs, workshops, and convenings in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Coordinates engagement events, professional development opportunities, memberships, and resources for staff to support a culture of belonging at the Foundation.
  • Supports the development of Affinity/Employee Resource Groups and partners with leaders on program and event planning for History/Heritage months and cultural celebrations.

Data Analysis and Research:

  • Collects and analyzes DEI data and develops surveys using platforms such as Survey Monkey, Salesforce CRM, Atlas, Monday, etc.
  • Interprets data findings to derive actionable insights and guide the Vice President of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion with strategic decision-making. 
  • Conducts competitive benchmarking research and compiles DEI best practices for briefing materials, reports, and presentations.
  • Collaborates with internal teams to integrate key DEI metrics into organizational performance indicators and dashboards.

Other Duties:

  • Manages other DEI activities, special projects, and initiatives as assigned.

Education, Experience, and Skills

  • Generally expected to have 5-7 years of relevant experience in diversity, equity and inclusion and strategy development; previous work with a mission-driven, philanthropic, or non-profit organization is highly desirable. 
  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • Prior experience in a complex, fast-paced, and collaborative role in a global or matrixed organization.
  • Excellent written and communication skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational, relationship management, event planning, and project coordination skills. 
  • Strong track record in strategy development, data analysis, assessment, and reporting.
  • Technical proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Salesforce or other CRM platforms preferred, project management tools; ability to learn new applications quickly.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work amidst competing demands, tight timelines, and often shifting deadlines with multiple stakeholders.
  • A high level of professional judgment and demonstrated ability to handle/maintain confidential information.
  • Creative and flexible problem-solver, ability to take initiative and ownership of projects, great teammate with a can-do attitude.
