The Pasha Group is Hiring a Warehouse Supervisor (Temporary) Near Baltimore, MD

Job Summary
The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for performing forklift operations including the physical movement of freight in a container freight station, completion of associated documentation, and understanding of the company's maintenance and safety plan as well as direct training, monitoring, and assessment of forklift operator performance. The Warehouse Supervisor also provides direct oversight and coordination of daily warehouse operations including the assignment of tasks and direction on the movement of freight.
Primary Objectives
  • Efficient, accurate movement of freight as required using appropriate equipment and safety practices.
  • Accurate, timely completion of required documentation relating to inbound and outbound freight.
  • Active support of safety, work environment and security policies and best practices.
  • Efficient performance of operational and administrative duties.
  • Leadership and direction of warehouse staff in close coordination with Terminal Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operate electric or propane powered forklift trucks with rated lifting capacity up to 35,000 lbs to heights typically not exceeding 180 inches or 15 feet.
  • Operate the lifting and tilting controls and steer the vehicle into position to load, move, transport and stack goods and materials in crates, boxes, pallets, skids about such locations as warehouse dock, ocean containers, vans, flatbed trucks, flat racks, etc.
  • Receive and verify freight against receiving documentation, note discrepancies and damage, and report findings.
  • Load and unload containers using strip sheets and load sheets; may unload ARC vessels into warehouse, and re-cube export shipments.
  • Operate yard hustler for relocation of rail and ocean containers between the yard and facilities dock doors.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work area of warehouse.
  • Comply with safety and security regulations and policies including attendance at monthly safety meetings.
  • Respond to or escalate questions and concerns from forklift operators, truck drivers, and other visitors to the facility.
  • Assist Terminal Manager with assessments of employee performance and capabilities.
  • Acts as liaison between office and warehouse floor.
  • Provide assessments of applicants and training for new employees.
  • Determine work schedules and assign areas of responsibility to warehouse personnel.
  • Provide assessments, training, direction, and guidance to staff on policies and procedures.
  • Maintain complete and accurate records of warehouse activities and warehouse personnel hours.
  • Enforce operational and safety protocols and report violations as needed.
  • Monitor quality and quantity of work performed in the warehouse. Correct or ensure correction of substandard work.
  • Monitor, report, and coordinate status, security, refueling, and maintenance of forklifts, yard hustlers, propane tanks, and related equipment.
  • Plan warehouse locations of Inbound ARC vessel receipts as needed.
  • Manage warehouse and truck doors for loading and unloading.
  • Conduct regularly scheduled inventory of warehouse.
  • Collaborate with Terminal manager to review and update standard practices and procedures to improve operational efficiency.
  • Direct flow of traffic in high volume situations ensuring transactions are processed timely and equipment is moving to/from dock doors efficiently.
  • Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent (HSED) required
Licenses and Certifications
  • Forklift certification required
  • Valid state-issued driver license and acceptable driving record required
  • Hazardous Materials certification preferred
Work Experience
  • 3 years of forklift operations in a warehouse environment required
  • 1 year experience in a leadership or supervisory role required
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to independently operate forklift, yard hustler, and other warehouse equipment safely.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of warehouse practices and documentation systems.
  • Strong leadership skills with demonstrated ability to motivate, influence performance, and lead by example.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to listen to and follow verbal instructions and write legibly.
  • Strong reading comprehension skills with the ability to read instructions and properly complete freight-related documentation.
  • Ability to be self directed and able to work within time and productivity guidelines with minimal supervision.
  • Good organizational and multi-tasking skills.

Working Environment
This role requires work that may involve the following environmental conditions:
  • Freight warehouse facility, office, outdoor yard and lot, and workshop settings, where hot, humid, cold, and other inclement weather conditions may occur.
  • Moderate to high levels of noise.
  • Potential exposure to airborne particles.
  • May handle hazardous materials and may be required to use personal protective equipment (PPE).
