The New York Racing Association Inc. is Hiring an Operation analyst Near Queens, NY

Job Overview :

Develop, refine, and review racing operations and racing office reports to monitor the daily, weekly and monthly performance of NYRA’s core racing product.

Deliver operational, strategic, technological, and tactical insights that help drive NYRA and overall business strategy.

Find new sources of data and test ideas to develop competitive advantages for NYRA to explore as part of its longer-term vision for the future of racing in New York and the United States.

Additionally, this position will work with the SVP on numerous initiatives that may involve regulatory matters, partnerships with external customers, interactions with key racing participants both within and outside of New York as well as other tasks, as assigned.

This position is required to communicate and actively promote NYRA’s Mission, Shared Values, and Supporting Behaviors to achieve team-member job satisfaction and improve guest service product experience.

Essential Functions :

  • Develop and maintain expertise in business intelligence tools employed by NYRA and determine what other tools may assist the racing department’s measurement of its product performance.
  • Analyze all published reports for credibility, consistency, and adherence to established business processes and rules.

Interpret results and offer summary insights, conclusions, and recommendations as appropriate.

  • Assist SVP of Racing and Racing Office to measure the overall performance of its racing product and deliver recommendations and conclusions drawn from analyses of internal and external data sources.
  • Coordinate daily quality assurance and quality control processes.
  • Maintain select Key Connections (Owners, Trainers, etc.) as direct point of contact.
  • Support SVP Racing & Operations on strategic planning, business development, recruiting and sales initiatives.
  • Serve as point of contact for technology vendors with respect to analytics, reporting and product enhancements.
  • Fill-in work as a Racing Official, as needed.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree with a business concentration or equivalent experience in the horse racing & pari-mutuel industry.
  • 3 years’ experience in various positions in horse racing. Experience or training in statistics, report modeling, data mining or analytics.
  • Expert in analytical skills and proficient with financial analysis.
  • Ability to quantify data.
  • Ability to create new and innovative processes.
  • Ability to define problems, collect and analyze data, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint and Word; Expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Talent for developing strong working relationships both inside and outside of the organization.
  • Ability and preference to undertake action-oriented and self-motivated projects.
  • Sound communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must be comfortable in a fluid and evolving organization.
  • Passionate about delivering a positive, consistent customer experience at all touch points.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, meet deadlines and goals.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to be licensed as a Racing Official in the state of New York.

Summary of Physical Requirements and Work Environment :

This is primarily a sedentary role with no special physical demands.

Pay Range / Salary : $120,000 - $125,000
