The Foundling is looking for an entrepreneurial and exceptionally organized Associate Director - Database Operations to join our 13-person Development team. Reporting to the Vice President of Development, the Associate Director - Database Operations is the team’s data and project management expert. They will supervise the team’s Development Associate and will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing strategies that support the achievement of ambitious revenue goals, including improved efficiencies, and robust tracking and reporting processes.

Responsibilities

The Associate Director - Database Operations will be an experienced user of Raiser’s Edge and Raiser’s Edge NXT, have a strong understanding of the needs and interests of donors and prospects, and be able to think strategically, make recommendations, offer creative solutions, effectively collaborate with supporters and colleagues, and manage systems to continually grow and improve the donor experience.

Salary Range:$75,000/year - $90,000/year

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the Raiser’s Edge database, acting as the primary database administrator and supporting data cleanup, streamlined revenue reporting, the creation of mailing lists, and tracking of cultivation, stewardship, and solicitation activities.
  • Oversee the design and maintenance of Raiser’s Edge dashboards for the Development team and design and oversee the distribution of regular statistical, financial, and donor reports.
  • Supervise the full-time Development Associate, responsible for gift entry and team administrative support, including overseeing and managing their work.
  • Ensure the integrity of the database by developing, documenting, and enforcing security procedures and creating and maintaining a robust database policies.
  • Frequently engage with the Finance team of The Foundling and its affiliate, Haven Academy, to oversee the reconciliation of revenue and expense information and ensure the proper flow of information between Development and Finance.
  • Gather, organize, analyze, and interpret data from the database to provide reports to and answer questions from various team members and leaders and to identify trends and improve service.
  • Supports the scheduling, planning, and facilitation of regular Development team meetings and professional development sessions, including training on the database.
  • Manage the effective, seamless onboarding process of new Development team members, and maintain centralized on-boarding resources to support future hires, integrating lessons learned for each new team member.
  • Facilitate the coordination and execution of major direct mail campaigns and other cross-departmental projects.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of department priorities and undertake other requests, as needed.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Advanced understanding of Raiser’s Edge (4 years) and non-profit development work;
  • BA/BS degree required;
  • Systems-thinker and systems builder;
  • Impeccable attention to detail;
  • Excellent communication and writing skills: ability to articulate The Foundling’s mission, program objectives and funding needs persuasively to potential donors;
  • A keen ability to garner buy-in and to facilitate collaboration and compromise among leadership;
  • Entrepreneurial self-starter who is able to manage multiple projects, prioritize and coordinate with internal and external teams to meet project/event deadlines;
  • Ability to work with flexibility, efficiency, enthusiasm, and diplomacy both individually and as part of a complex team effort;
  • Proficiency in MS PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and data processing;
  • Strong customer service mentality, with the ability to anticipate and satisfy internal (staff) and external (donor) needs;
  • Intellectual curiosity and ability to think outside of the box to efficiently solve problems;
  • Polished, professional and comfortable liaising with donors and other VIPs;
  • Enthusiastic, self-motivated and committed to raising awareness and funds for The Foundling;
  • Passionate commitment to The Foundling’s work and mission.

Education Required

Bachelor’s Degree from a U.S. accredited educational institution or Credential Evaluation for a non-U.S. educational institution
