WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER

The Conservation Project Manager (CPM) provides project management support and technical leadership to the New York Division of the Nature Conservancy. The Conservation Project Manager will oversee ongoing resilient infrastructure and connectivity projects in the Adirondack region. The Conservation Project Manager may also work with members of multiple teams in the Conservancy to plan and implement and seek funding for a potentially wide range of conservation projects across New York. Projects may include larger watershed or landscape scale improvements, terrestrial connectivity, reforestation and replanting efforts, and other team priorities. The Conservation Project Manager will prioritize projects using statewide data, field assessments, and community outreach; identify funding opportunities and develop proposals with colleagues and partners; and provide technical expertise to stakeholders, including support for implementation.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3 years’ experience in a relevant field (for example, but not limited to natural resource management, conservation project management, hydrology, transportation planning and design, geomorphology) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience building and maintaining positive working relationships with a variety of partners (for example, state agency staff, engineers, local government officials, scientists, media).
  • Experience managing complex, on-the-ground conservation projects.
  • Experience completing tasks independently with respect to timeline(s).

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated.
  • Extensive experience in conservation project management.
  • Experience with field methods and/or freshwater science related to road-stream crossing design and engineering.
  • Field experience (for example, but not limited to data collection, basic surveying and design, project implementation, resource management).
  • Experience working in partnership with the transportation sector.
  • Experience manipulating, analyzing, and interpreting data.
  • Experience with GIS, GPS, and using handheld data collectors.
  • Experience working with contractors including managing invoices and contracts.
  • Experience fundraising, including grant writing.
  • Experience managing federal and state grants.

ADDITIONAL JOB INFORMATION

This position is expected to be an 18-month term position with the possibility to extend based on future project development and available funding.

SALARY INFORMATION

The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position is generally within the range of $55,000 – $60,000 for annual base salary. This range only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA. Where a successful candidate’s actual pay will fall within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including, for example, the candidate's location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience. Please note countries outside the USA would have a different pay range in the local currency based on the local labor market, and not tied to USA pay or ranges. Your geographic location will be confirmed during the recruitment.
