The Mom Project is Hiring an Asset Manager, Hardware Devices Near Oakland, CA

They’re working to help their diverse audiences — sellers, individuals, artists, fans, developers, and all the people in between — overcome barriers to access the economy. We are seeking an Asset Manager, Hardware Devices on a contract basis to join the Engineering Program Coordination team to develop and document device maintenance policies and procedures. This role will assist program teams with materials management, distribution of hardware prototype devices and materials, shipping, and receiving. You will be responsible for coordinating the resources necessary for the validation of new hardware devices and ongoing sustaining. The preferred candidate is a thoughtful, customer-focused organizer who can prioritize and track details. This role will be onsite in Oakland, CA. What You’ll Do: Work with program teams including program coordinators, program managers, and engineers to determine device maintenance requirements and create device maintenance policies and procedures Determine the tools and equipment required for in-house maintenance as well as investigate options to utilize third-party service providers for device maintenance Implement a maintenance program and perform in-house tests and maintenance of devices and components Coordinate test and maintenance with third-party service providers Perform basic device maintenance such as firmware and software upgrades, battery maintenance, and battery replacement Fulfill ongoing requests for devices and materials Assist users in identifying available allocations and suitable configurations for their specific development needs Process and manage inbound, outbound, domestic, and international shipments for on-time delivery Communicate shipment status, and escalate issues as necessary Receive and distribute prototype devices and materials Reconcile inventory Negotiate allocation shortages and collaborate with program coordination, program management, and other teams to share resources Track device ownership and locations of devices including those at outside labs and test sites Maintains a clean, neat and organized, member-ready area and organizes inventory Ensure that there is sufficient storage space and staff on-hand for processing incoming shipments Inventory stock, and order materials to maintain minimum inventory levels Purchase materials Coordinates move of devices among sites Identify units for secure scrapping and prepare for secure scrap Coordinate secure scrap of devices and materials Update existing shipping and inventory process documentation and policy, and identify and document process improvements and new policies Follow device security and secrecy practices Educate team members on processes and policies Must Haves: Prior experience in Information Technology (IT) Hardware Asset Management or stockroom/inventory/shipping/receiving experience in a technology environment Prior experience in writing Standard Operating Procedures Familiarity with build matrices and device configurations Experience with Asset Management software such as Oomnitza or other Asset Management Software (AMS) Customer-facing experience (internal customers), help-desk support Customer service skills Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets Good with numbers Attention to detail and strong organizational skills Time management skills Problem-solving skills The ability to exert force and/or lift or carry items safely weighing twenty-five (25) to forty (40) pounds occasionally, and up to ten (10) pounds frequently Prior experience with basic device maintenance such as firmware and software upgrades Battery maintenance, and battery replacement experience The ability to support some evening calls preferred Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously preferred International shipping experience preferred The ability to travel internationally Experience with ticketing systems such as JIRA preferred Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field Hours & Location: M-F, 40 hours/week. This role will be onsite in Oakland, CA.
