The Lung Consultants is seeking a flexible Team Member that can assist as a Medical Assistant. We are searching for someone that is passionate about helping others and possesses a Team Mentality.

Our current Medical Assistants love The Lung Consultants because we are truly able to make a difference in the lives of the Patients that we serve. Our Medical Assistants become a part of a tight-knit medical team focused on providing high quality care to members of our community. Individuals that are successful in this role tend to be customer-focused and detail oriented, possess a true desire to serve the patients needs, have experience in a medical office, and possess proficient communication skills.

Our Medical Assistants help connect patients with services and medical care by scheduling appointments for our medical providers in multiple clinical sites and provide information about services and programs offered by our practice. They work in collaboration with our amazing Providers to assist them with doing all that is needed to render the best possible Patient care.

In joining The Lung Consultants as a Medical Assistant, you’ll be stepping into a strong, established team that is passionate about their work and are focused on learning and developing their skills in order to best serve the community.

A day in the life of our Medical Assistant may look like this:

  • Chart Preparation
  • Prescription Refills
  • Provide Medical Front Office support.
  • Answer the telephone and either respond to inquiry, or direct caller to appropriate personnel.
  • Accurately record caller messages and make calls as directed by the medical providers.
  • Schedule appointments and procedures according to current scheduling guidelines.
  • Greet and direct patients and visitors.
  • Provide information regarding practice services.
  • Register patients according to practice policies.
  • Verify payer coverage.
  • Collect payments from patients and reconcile daily cash reports.
  • Maintain forms and office supplies for front desk activities.
  • Practice OSHA safety standards.
  • Comply with all HIPAA guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean and organized waiting room.
  • May perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Provide Medical Back Office Support.
  • Triage & Room Patients.
  • Assist Providers with healthcare needs.
  • Arrange hospital admissions and laboratory services.
  • Interview patients and document basic medical history.
  • Organize and schedule appointments.
  • Update and file medical records and insurance reports.
  • Arrange hospital admissions and laboratory services.
  • Check with patients and type up patients charts.
  • Assist during medical examinations.
  • Produce and distribute correspondence memos, letters, faxes and forms.
  • Handle receivable and payable accounts and keep financial records.
  • Prepare and clean treatment rooms and medical instruments.
  • etc.

We ask that our Medical Assistant have the following:

  • Education: High School diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Customer service experience in a healthcare environment – 2 year preferred.
  • Be able and available to work Monday – Thursday 8:30am – 4:30pm, Friday 8:30am - 2:00 pm
  • Excellent telephone skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Friendly and professional demeanor.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft products.
  • Preferred proficiency with eClinical Works
