PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION:

The Barback is a member of the Food and Beverage team that assists in ensuring that the Langham Hotel guest service and food and beverage standards are met. Hospitable, welcoming and friendly guest service, are essential requirements of the position.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND JOB DUTIES:

• Set-up bar according to appropriate standards of service determined by the manager
• Responsible for maintaining inventory of and preparing prep items for the bar including juices, syrups etc.
• Make and serve beverages according to hotel menus and standards, serve food when necessary from restaurant menu
• Responsible for following proper beverage control
• Provide maximum levels of guest service while maintaining Langham Hotel standards
• Report to duty as scheduled by manager according to operating hours with flexibility
• Be responsible for any requisitions for the bar, fruit, liquor, wine, etc.
• Responsible for maintaining a controlled environment at the bar
• Maintain cleanliness of bar area, additional duties not mentioned above may also be requested by a supervisor

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE /LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES / REQUIRED:

• Previous experience in similar environment preferred
• Must become TIPS certified if not already
• Use oral communication effectively to perform job; speaking appropriately with guests and colleagues
• Stand; reach; grasp; lift/carry up to 30 pounds; walk; kneel; squat/bend; push/pull
• Make minor decisions requiring logical judgment, i.e. task sequencing
• Make general decisions in the absence of specific directions, i.e. not to serve intoxicated guests, prioritizing workload
• React well and remain in control when working with high volume under pressure
• Must be able to work PM schedule based on restaurant hours of operations.
