The Korte Company is Hiring a Financial Controller Near Highland, IL

We are seeking a full-time Financial Controller to be the CFO’s primary support in executing the firm’s strategic vision by creating accurate and timely financial reporting and analysis. This position will interact heavily with the CFO, IT, HR, silo leaders and other staff to create and maintain financial reporting data, maintain daily and monthly financial recordings and other general accounting activities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Manage all aspects of accounting; from accounts payable to receivables oversight, to tax compliance, and financial reporting, 401k / worker’s compensation audit, compliance, cash management, and other similar activities as necessary
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and other regulatory guidelines
  • Coordinate and participate in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts, providing the CFO with reliable data to support strategic decision-making
  • Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure integrity of financial data
  • Lead the monthly close process, ensuring efficient and accurate financial reporting
  • Manage cash flow of accounts receivable and accounts payable along with general ledger entries
  • Prepare bank reporting package for review with CFO
  • Coordinate with internal department and third party accounting firm to prepare annual tax return and audit
  • Support CFO and other departments in budgeting, projection, identification of challenges and opportunities, goal tracking, etc.
  • Oversee payroll, tax planning, and compliance activities, ensuring adherence to local, state, and federal regulations
  • Continuously evaluate and improve accounting processes and systems to increase efficiency and add value to the company's financial operations.
  • Lead and develop accounting staff, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must comply with federal, state and company policies, procedures and regulations
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, tax planning, and compliance regulations
  • Proficient in financial software and accounting systems (e.g. Excel, Vista), with an ability to leverage technology to improve financial operations
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and leadership skills
  • Proactive, with the ability to work independently and prioritize with periodic deadlines
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Highest level of trustworthiness, professionalism and ability to create open collaboration with all levels of the organization

EDUCATION EXPERIENCE

Qualified applicants will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration or finance
  • 8-10 years of accounting experience with at least two years in a Financial Controller or similar leadership role or two years in a public accounting role
  • CPA strongly preferred
