The Knowledge House (TKH) approach is to (1) close gaps in the education-to-employment pipeline in underserved Bronx neighborhoods by teaching young adults aged 16-24 skills to launch careers or ventures in technology, and (2) support links between local youth, tech innovation, and business development that bring positive community impact. Headquartered in the South Bronx, the poorest congressional district, TKH has served more than 1,900 students. Current core programs include our Innovation Fellowship focused on software engineering, cyber security, and digital design for adult job trainees, and our Karim Kharbouch Coding Fellowship for high school students learning computational thinking and web design. Job Summary: The Alumni Employment Manager will own data tracking and case management and supportive services for all Knowledge House Alumni. This includes supporting the matching of alumni to apprenticeship, bridge employment opportunities and ultimately full time employment.The alumni employment manager will also inform alumni of upcoming alumni workshops and events, reach out to disconnected alumni to report their employment status and encourage reengagement, identify support needs and supplemental educational among alumni, andmaintain relationships with alumni networks who may facilitate employment opportunities.Key Areas of Responsibility:As a growing organization, we expect that the specific needs and job description will shift over time and other duties may be assigned by the Senior Director of Programs. Match alumni to employment opportunities with full time placement as the ultimate outcome
Ensure employer relationships align with TKH’s employer engagement plan.
Support alumni through employment application process
Conduct periodic Work Readiness Assessments with job seeking alumni
Vet alumni for tech/design apprenticeship opportunities with the aid of career instructor
Maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including intermediaries such as the Workforce One Centers, the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, and others who serve the tech business community.
Consistently vet and aggregate employment opportunities for new graduates
Source full-time career opportunities and industry engagements to share with TKH learning community
Liaising with leads provided by other TKH departments (e.g. Teaching and Learning, External Affairs)
Administrative Support (30%)
Update student outcomes/placement database with outcomes data on a regular basis
Verification of FT placements through paystubs / offer letters
Follow up with alumni to track wage data, job retention and current employment/training needs
Continuing Alumni Support (20%)
Work with career instructor and partnership manager to develop, and implement alumni workshops, and networking events
Provide guidance and insight toward potential formation of Alumni Board with implementation of events, fundraising initiatives, etc.
With support from the Manager of Curricula and Instruction, solicit feedback from employer partners on digital badges, curricula, and other instructional resources.
Qualifications:
5-7 years of work experience ideally in a non-profit, education, or youth development environment or in client-facing/customer success roles
Experience working in adult workforce development, job matching, job bank, or recruiting strongly preferred
Proficient in Google Drive applications and other apps for work
Relate openly and comfortably with students to encourage strong relationships and accountability.
Approach work with a customer-focused commitment and attempting smart and innovative approaches to overcome student employment challenges.
Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, including cold calling
TKH alumni strongly considered
Skills and Approach:
Computer proficiency, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Drive, Google Suite
Exceptional organizational skills and ability to balance multiple priorities and deadlines in a constantly changing and fast-paced environment.
Ability to independently produce high quality work, delegate, problem-solve, and ask for help when needed.

Compensation
Full-time $68,750 - $73,850 /year salary
