The Hotel at Arundel Preserve is Hiring a Banquet Captain Near Hanover, MD

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
This position oversees catered events, primarily at hotels, convention centers, and other venues. They schedule banquet service personnel, assign specific tasks or services, ensure that safety and sanitation codes are followed, and train staff to recognize improper guest behavior.
WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOU:
  • Must be able to meet all Job Duties required of a Banquet Server
  • Supervise all Banquet team members professionally and effectively
  • Effectively create department schedules to ensure efficient service
  • Supervises and assists with the setup of function rooms to include placement of linen, silver, china and glassware according to event order specifications.
  • Visually inspects function rooms and equipment prior to functions for cleanliness and setup.
  • Verbally communicates in a calm, positive manner during the course of the event with the Culinary, Catering Sales Team, and host and banquet staff to ensure timely execution of events.
  • Exceptional service and corporate standards
  • Prepares banquet re-caps with accuracy for the night auditor to post
  • Prepares the monthly re-cap for accountings month end
  • Complete required Appraisals
  • Acknowledge all guests and respond promptly to their needs, however busy and whatever time of day.
  • Ensure unresolved incidents are reported to Manager/Supervisor
  • Familiarity with all hotel services/features and local attractions/activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately
  • Contribute to the team's success by accomplishing tasks and assisting with projects as needed
  • Maintain knowledge and compliance with departmental policies, service procedures, and standards
  • Availability during peak operating times, i.e.: Weekends, Holidays and Special Events
  • Work as a team member to ensure our guests have the best possible experience
  • Understand company's emergency procedures and be able to apply them when necessary
  • Report any incidents, property damage or injuries immediately to Manager/Supervisor
  • Attend department meetings and training sessions as necessary
  • Stay abreast of industry trends
  • Contribute to team/company engagement efforts
  • Proficient with MS office
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Manager and/or Supervisor
JOB KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
  • Comprehensive knowledge of food and beverage preparations, service standards, guest relations and etiquette
  • Willing to assist co-workers with their job duties.
  • Ability to work effectively under time constraints and deadlines.
  • Ability to grasp, lift, carry, or transport up to 50 pounds.
  • Control quality of consistency of all food served
  • Order and received banquet supplies
  • Consistently conduct department line-ups and doing the daily check-in
  • Conduct monthly inventory
  • Ensure work areas are set less than 15 minutes prior to service
  • Be self-motivated and ability to work with limited supervision
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Compute basic arithmetic and mathematical calculations
  • Organized and detail oriented
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Sound leadership and managerial skills
  • Ability to work effectively in stressful, high-pressure situations while maintaining composure and guest satisfaction
  • Technical knowledgeable and competency in necessary systems and software:
    [Outlook, Word, Excel, accounting software, Roommaster, Seriousware, Visual One, Delphi, Meeting Matrix, etc.]
Requirements:
  • 3 years demonstrated hotel banquet experience
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
