The Guidance Center - Leavenworth, KS is Hiring an Accountant I Near Leavenworth, KS

The Guidance Center (TGC) is currently seeking an Accountant position to be the newest member of our innovative interdisciplinary team. TGC is a Community Mental Health Center serving Leavenworth, Atchison, and Jefferson counties in Kansas. Position Summary for Accountant I:

The Accountant I is responsible for the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions and maintains multiple checking accounts. Maintains the general ledger by posting various journal entries that are properly coded by location, general ledger account number, cost center, program, and funding source. Conducts detailed data entry and analysis for the submission and finalization of monthly AIMS data to KDADS when required. Other duties include KDOT grant and contract reporting, supplies management, and other miscellaneous projects and duties.

Primary Duties for Accountant I:

  • Process employee mileage and expenditure requests
  • Enters accounts payable data into the general ledger by location, general ledger, cost center, program, and funding source
  • Enters cash receipt data into the general ledger by location, general ledger, cost center, and funding source.
  • Purchase orders/authorizations for expenditures
  • Receives and reviews all incoming invoices and billing statements
  • Prepares and enters invoices to be paid
  • Processes checks to include distribution and mailing

Minimum Qualifications for Accountant:

EDUCATION AND LICENSURE:

Required: Associate’s degree Bachelor’s degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

Required: Two years’ experience in an accounting field including a minimum of one year experience in accounts payable
