The Fay School seeks a candidates who will step into a highly functioning faculty and inspire our school community by advancing the school’s strategic priorities. Outdoor Education and Environmental Responsibility: The Fay School enjoys one of the most beautiful landscapes in the city of Houston with our very own habitat of abundant green space, including nature trails in our 3-acre Fay Forest. Situated on Buffalo Bayou just upstream of Buffalo Bayou Park, the Houston Arboretum & Nature Center, and Memorial Park, The Fay School’s ideal location allows for an Outdoor Education curriculum that cultivates both a love and understanding of nature and the encouragement to act on an ethos of environmental responsibility. The Outdoor Education curriculum at Fay, along with other developing initiatives, empowers children with a hands-on experience to explore and learn through our natural world. Position Summary:
The Part-Time School Nurse is non-benefits eligible a part time position, typically 2, 10-to-11-hour days per week. The Part Time School Nurse reports to the School Nurse and the Principal. Their purpose is to serve the students and to administer the policies, procedures, and clinical protocols of the School in order to ensure optimum standards of care and safety.
Responsibilities include the following:
- Triage students as they present themselves to the School Nurse’s for medical attention.
- Administers nursing treatment within the bounds of the Texas Nurse Practice Act as needed for students and staff.
- Documents all visits to clinic.
- Schedule student appointments with the School Nurse for follow up care.
- Follow procedures for reporting accidents and dismissal due to illness/injury.
- Communicates significant injuries to Principal, Assistant Head of School and Head of School before the end of the school day of the incident.
- Maintain and prepare charts for the School Nurse.
- Make all necessary referrals for further medical evaluation, medical care, or follow up care in conjunction with the School Nurse.
- Be available to students, parents, and faculty to answer questions and assist them in solving problems related to medical issues.
- Document on student records all pertinent medical information.
- Administer prescribed medication to students.
- Perform duties outside the clinic such as carpool duty or forest recess duty during nonpeak clinic hours.
- Commit to ongoing learning including participating in professional development approved by the Principal.
- Willing and able to routinely and appropriately use personal smartphone to utilize school apps to communicate, collaborate, and fulfill responsibilities as outlined in this Performance Profile.
- Support the School and its Leadership Team.
- Serves as a member of the Operations Team.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal and Head of School.

Qualifications:
- Current RN licensure with State of Texas
- Proficiency in Magnus Health, Microsoft Office and Teams preferred
- Ability to enthusiastically work both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions including rain, cold, heat, etc. and on various surfaces, some inclined, including grass, dirt, trails, decking, pavement, and concrete.
- Ability to perform sustained standing and walking, navigating stairs, kneeling, lifting and carrying up to 20 lbs, monitoring children and the immediate environment visibly and audibly and the ability to give audible instructions that can be understood by English speakers in a loud environment.
