Director of Extended Day

Position Summary:

The Director of Extended Day is a benefits eligible, full-time 12-month position that reports the Assistant Head of School for Finance. This position is responsible for successful planning, implementation, and management of the school’s Extended Day Programs. These programs include the Stay at Fay Extended Day program, the After School Activities program, the school’s FAYcation summer camp, Play at Fay Day camps, and other auxiliary programs devised to benefit the Fay School community. Additionally, this position serves as the Texas Child Care Regulation Compliance Officer, ensuring The Fay School’s compliance with all CCR requirements, and is listed as a Director on The Fay School’s CCR permit and serves to facilitate CCR visits as needed.

Start Date: May 29, 2024

Responsibilities include the following:
  • Effective planning and management for all Extended Day program content.
  • Effective planning and management for staff including hiring, training, ongoing evaluation, and coaching.
  • Effective planning and management of budgets for all Extended Day programs to meet the needs of the budget process as set forth by the finance office.
  • Effective planning for and marketing of the Extended Day programs to maximize participation and revenues.
  • Management of the registration processes for all Extended Day programming in coordination with the business office.
  • Effective professional communication with all faculty & staff, families, and vendors.
  • Manages and implements use of technology in the department.
  • Manages hourly staff scheduling.
  • Devises and implements policy in conjunction with Leadership.
  • Manages and maintains program accreditations.
  • Conducts yearly audit of The Fay School’s CCR compliance, and implements updates as needed, in conjunction with the Principal.
  • Stays abreast of regulatory landscape, best practice and industry trends and fosters initiatives to improve program operations.
  • Effective reporting on all programs to management.
  • Coordinates planning with faculty, staff, and management as needed to facilitate the mission of the School and Extended Day programs.
  • Participates as a contributing member of CADE, the Fay School’s Advancement & Communications committee, to facilitate alignment and inclusion of Extended Day programs in marketing and outreach.
  • Participates in the life of The Fay School by attending various events throughout the year.
  • Volunteer for service at one or more Fay community events per year.
  • Willing and able to routinely and appropriately use personal smartphone to utilize school apps to communicate, collaborate, and fulfill responsibilities as outlined in this Performance Profile.
  • Supports the school and its Leadership.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Head of School.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Two years supervisory experience preferred.
  • Two years experience managing day programs for children preferred.
  • Experience with the following technology preferred: iPads, Office 365, One Note, Camp Brain.
  • Experience working within a school setting preferred.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with other faculty, staff, vendors, students, and parents.
  • Ability to maintain orderly comprehensive records.
  • Ability to work well independently (self-starter) and as a team.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

  • Ability to perform certain physical tasks including sustained standing and walking, navigating stairs and hills, kneeling, lifting, and carrying up to 20 lbs, monitoring children and the immediate environment visibly and audibly and the ability to give audible instructions that can be understood by English speakers in a loud environment.
  • Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions including rain, cold, heat, etc. and on various surfaces, some inclined, including grass, dirt, trails, decking, pavement, and concrete.
