The Episcopal Diocese of Arizona is Hiring a Human Resources and Benefits Administrator Near Phoenix, AZ

General Job Brief:

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Finance, the HR/Benefits Administrator will oversee HR/Benefit Administration for the Episcopal Diocese of Arizona. This position will provide insight and guidance for ongoing human resource policy and process improvements for the Diocese. This position will directly monitor and support compliance with existing federal, state, episcopal, and diocesan employment regulations. This position is critical to ensuring the utmost support to the human capital of The Episcopal Diocese of Arizona.

Typical Duties:

HR/Benefits Administration:

  • Manage episcopal pension and group insurance benefits through the vendor
  • Communicate with employees, administrators and congregations to resolve payroll and benefit-related issues
  • Ensure proper processing of I9 and E-Verify for employees on the diocese payroll
  • Review opportunities to improve and automate onboarding process for employees on the Diocese payroll via Human Resource Information System (HRIS) for employee self-service
  • Conduct training for churches on new hire orientation, benefit administration and best practices
  • Coordinate administrative leaves of absence (medical operations, worker’s compensation, etc.)
  • Establish and maintain electronic employee records within the HRIS for proper security and storage
  • Complete all separations, terminations, transfers, and compensation change paperwork required by vendor for benefit administration
  • Participate in the ongoing employee handbook updates
  • Collaborate with the Bishop and Canon to the Ordinary on annual performance review process

Payroll:

  • Ensure collaboration with the A/P and P/R Assistant for HR changes, adds, deletes, terminations, etc. for timely processing of payroll by the finance department
  • Enter all salary and hourly pay information in the payroll processing system
  • Review payroll each period for accuracy
  • Act as backup for processing payroll

HR Support & Reporting:

  • Offer high-quality and exceptional customer service and ensure follow up with staff in all respects
  • Manage the Diocesan reporting needs from the HRIS system
  • Annual worker's compensation reporting
  • Coordinate with benefit vendor on the open enrollment process
  • Provide ongoing support for all benefit enrollees
  • Review and report ACA through HRIS system
  • Prepare and cooperate with annual audit
  • Complete Department of Economic Security and Employment Verifications reporting requests

Other Duties & Responisbilities: Collaboration, confidentiality, and integrity are critical to success in this role. Completing other duties and tasks with utmost integrity and professionalism, as directed and not necessarily mentioned in this description, will be expected within compliance with financial policies and procedures of the diocese.

Knowledge:

Must demonstrate a high level of understanding of full cycle HR processes.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Must have 3-5 years of progressive HR administrative experience, preferably in a non-profit environment. Prefer a combination of payroll and human resource experience in a non-profit environment. Must have experience utilizing an HRIS.

Ability and Skills:

  • High attention to detail and accuracy; highly organized
  • Ability to effectively communicate with others and to work harmoniously with related personnel
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work
  • Ability to review operations for efficiencies; make suggestions for improvements
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Google mail

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and keyboard.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times

Fair Labor Standards Act:

This position is full-time, for overtime pay provisions as provided by the Federal Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and any applicable state laws. Remote option available 2-3 days per week.

Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
