Excel Summer Camps & Programs Counselor/Coach

The Position

Excel Programs seeks part-time and full-time seasonal camp counselors. Under the direction of the Camp Director, Camp counselors are expected to guide children throughout the camp experience, assist them with daily activities and programs, and ensure their safety and well-being.

About You

Successful candidates for this position will:

• Make a positive impact on children while receiving hands-on experience in a camp setting, professional development, resume building, and networking opportunities.
• Have a flexible schedule with opportunities to work full or partial schedule weekly and a competitive salary.
• Typical hours for summer camp are 8:00am to 4:00pm or 9:00am to 5:00pm daily.
• Be responsible for group supervision of students with attention to behavior and group management, health, safety, security, and personal and skill development.
• Inform Director of Camp Programs of any concerns regarding the health and safety of the students or other staff members.
• Implement camp program activities; includes outdoor and indoor activities.
• Use effective management and supervision skills to lead the group assigned daily.
• Work effectively with fellow summer staff members and collaborate on daily responsibilities.
• Complete assigned paperwork (attendance tracking).
• Serve as a positive role model to children on campus.
• Professional interaction with students, their families, peers, leadership team and the larger campus/school community.
• Push/pull, lift and carry a minimum of thirty-five (35) pounds across campus.
• Possess physical capacity to fulfill all essential job functions.
• Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children preferred.
• Complete all background checks required by the Department of Education.
