In this role, you'll work on-site in a classroom setting alongside the Lead Special Education teacher, an additional Teacher Assistant, and a supporting Registered Behavior Technician (RBT).

Core Responsibilities

• Working with the lead teacher to monitor the class schedule.
• Assisting teacher with lesson preparation by getting materials ready and setting up equipment.
• Revising lesson material with students individually or in small groups.
• Ensuring the classroom environment is safe and clean.
• Collaborating with lead teachers to recognize issues students are facing and recommend solutions.
• Documenting student progress and communicating with parents to keep them informed.
• Helping lead teachers to create lesson plans.
• Complying with state, school, DHS, Pre-K Counts, Keystone STARS along with class rules and regulations.
• Attending all training classes, parent conferences, and staff meetings.

Qualifications:

1. Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Experience: Experience working with individuals with developmental disorders is preferred, though on-the-job training is often provided.
3. Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, patience, empathy, ability to work with diverse populations, and a foundational understanding of early childhood development and special education.

Career Path:

Teacher assistants must pass the RBT certification exam within 180 days of hire and maintain certification through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board. Additional professional development opportunities available.
