The Democratic Party is Hiring a HR Associate Near Washington, DC

Proactive, customer service oriented, and dynamic human resources professional sought to be an integral part of the Human Resources Team with operational effectiveness, excellent reporting and data integrity, and recruiting efforts.

Objectives of Role:

  • Provide administrative support for employee lifecycle processes including onboarding and offboarding;
  • Assist in executing personnel procedures and policies;
  • Input data into various HR systems;
  • Provide day-to-day customer service support to DNC employees;
  • Maintain the organization of the HR drive;
  • Prepare, update, and conduct training presentations;
  • Provide support on other HR initiatives as needed.
Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Execute the onboarding and offboarding process including entering employees into relevant HR systems, preparing and processing relevant paperwork;
  • Support new hire integration, host orientation programs, process new hire paperwork, including required documents through insurance and benefits;
  • Support the offboarding process by hosting offboarding sessions, preparing and processing relevant paperwork, updating relevant systems, and confirming equipment returns; 
  • Support the interview process such as candidate sourcing and selection, conducting initial phone screens, analyzing qualifications, background, and experience;
  • Support administrative communications for arrivals, departures, office transfers and other employee status changes;
  • Provide day-to-day customer service support by answering calls and emails with a positive attitude, and escalating cases when appropriate;
  • Maintain and manage job descriptions;
  • Responsible for completion and accuracy of all personnel files, including I-9s;
  • Conducts audits as needed and/or directed in compliance with applicable legal requirements;
  • Assist HR with employee/personnel projects and establish various reports and documents to provide current personnel information;
  • Assists in maintaining Human Resource Information System records and compiles reports from database as needed;
  • Provide general support for various human resources initiatives as required; and,
  • Assist or prepare correspondence, including HR Newsletter.
  • Other duties as assigned to support the department and the DNC's mission.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and 1 year of Human Resources experience in a fast-paced environment. Experience in HR, HRIS systems/databases and customer service is a plus; 
  • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize Google Suite (Gmail, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides, etc).
  • Ability to quickly learn systems, processes, procedures. 
  • Strong project management skills, impeccable attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple high-priority tasks, communicate progress and adjust to shifting priorities while meeting deadlines;
  • High emotional intelligence and strong interpersonal skills;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Committed to increasing diversity, equity and inclusion; and,
  • Knowledge of or familiarity with employment law preferred.

The starting salary for the HR Associate position is $51,000, on an annualized basis, commensurate with experience and qualifications. 

This is a full-time, non-exempt position, which means you will be eligible for overtime pay for hours worked in excess of 40 in a given workweek, and has an end date of November 15, 2024.

The DNC offers a generous benefit package, including:

- Paid time off, including Federal holidays, open leave, and personal days;

- Health and dental insurance for employee and dependents;

- 90% paid by the DNC, 10% paid by employee;

- Supplementary vision plans available to employees for purchase;

- Pre-tax Flexible spending account benefits available to employees and dependents.
