The Democratic Party is Hiring a Hispanic Media Director Near Washington, DC

The Hispanic Media Director is responsible for leading the Democratic National Committee’s outreach to national and local Hispanic media, managing those relationships, identifying surrogate opportunities and assisting the DNC’s Regional Press Secretaries in building press plans that incorporate strategic engagement with local Hispanic media in key battleground states.

Responsibilities:

  • Working with the DNC’s Regional Press Secretaries and national press team to plan and implement communications strategies specifically geared towards reaching the Latino community;
  • Writing communications materials including talking points and releases;
  • Working with Spanish media outlets, placing stories and serving as a spokesperson;
  • Translating press releases and talking points into Spanish;
  • Media monitoring and other responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications:
  • At least three years of relevant work experience;
  • Spanish-language fluency;
  • Excellent writing skills;
  • Relationships with Hispanic media;
  • Ability to work on a large team;
  • Strong adherence to to tight deadlines and close attention to detail;
  • Comfort working in a fast paced campaign environment, taking initiative and producing tangible results;
  • A comfort working with reporters and understanding of the news cycle, and
  • On-the-recording experience required.

Travel: The Hispanic Media Director position will require travel, which could be up to 25% of the time.

This is a full-time, exempt position, that may require work on weekends. This position is in the bargaining unit represented by SEIU Local-500.
