The Democratic Party is Hiring an Assistant Press Secretary for Hispanic Media Near Washington, DC

The Assistant Press Secretary for Hispanic Media is a vital part of the DNC Communications team. At the direction of the Hispanic Media Director, the Assistant Press Secretary will support the day-to-day execution of the DNC’s strategic outreach to national and local Hispanic media. Applicants should have excellent written and verbal communications skills in both Spanish and English, a strong ability to multitask, and be ready to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the development of communications materials across multiple media, in both Spanish and English; 
  • Help manage the distribution and quality of written materials every day, from drafting to delivery;
  • Monitor news events throughout the day and identify opportunities to share the DNC’s message; 
  • Aid in the execution of projects within and across departments; 
  • Maintain the DNC’s press lists; and,
  • Assist the Hispanic Media Director with administrative responsibilities as needed;
Qualifications:
  • 1-2 years of work experience, which can include an internship;
  • Demonstrated fluency in both Spanish and English;
  • Dedication to core Democratic values;
  • An ability and desire to keep up with the news cycle;
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills across multiple media; and,
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

The starting salary for the Assistant Press Secretary for Hispanic Media position is $56,000, on an annualized basis, commensurate with experience and qualifications. This position is overtime eligible and represented by SEIU Local-500 and has an end date of November 15, 2024.

This position requires up to 15% travel both in the Washington, D.C. area and across the country to attend and support meetings and events.
