Description
The DarkStar Group is seeking a Systems Administrator with a TS/SCI Poly clearance (applicable to this customer) to join one of our top projects in Herndon, VA. Below is an overview of the project, as well as information on our company, our benefits, and our $25,000 referral program.
THE PROGRAM

THE PROJECT
The Sponsor delivers human capital management technologies and services to the workforce, including data analytics that enable business decisions. The Sponsor seeks to build an integrated enterprise IT support model to drive efficiencies in the talent space and better address strategic requirements associated with learning, training compliances, foreign language development and retention, job advertisements, selection, and performance. The development and successful implementation of this model requires experience with multiple IT skill sets, including project management, systems engineering and architecture, Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) integration and configuration, application design and development, enhancement, transformation, security risk management, certification and accreditation, system and database administration, testing, service management, and operations and maintenance (O&M).
THE ROLE
- The Contractor shall work core hours from 0900 hours to 1500 hours.
- The Contractor shall travel between Sponsor locations to provide on-site support, as needed.
- The Contractor shall establish server baselines.
- The Contractor shall develop clear and concise server build reports.
- The Contractor shall coordinate server installation.
- The Contractor shall create or update asset management records and be responsible for integrity of asset management record.
- The Contractor shall configure, build, monitor, update, upgrade, maintain, and administer servers.
- The Contractor shall provide technical configuration, setup, installation services, hardware and coordination for application projects.
- The Contractor shall implement baseline changes.
- The Contractor shall install security updates and patches.
- The Contractor shall perform operating system software updates and upgrades.
- The Contractor shall assess server loads and develop tuning recommendations.
- The Contractor shall communicate outages and degradation of servers to appropriate oversight.
- The Contractor shall create request for service support from internal/external service providers.
- The Contractor shall troubleshoot, analyze, isolate, resolve and respond to issues identified by a change request or trouble ticket in a timely manner.
- The Contractor shall maintain and ensure security through access controls, backups and firewalls.
- The Contractor shall monitor and support backup processes.
- The Contractor shall restore file and data information, as requested.
- The Contractor shall perform server checklists.
- The Contractor shall perform technical evaluations, analysis, and troubleshoot all supported servers in response to service tickets to include server failures and system outages.
- The Contractor shall recommend hardware upgrades and replacements for Sponsor consideration
- The Contractor shall transition servers to updated architectures.
- The Contractor shall support Sponsor in discussions regarding Memorandum of Agreements (MOAs); provide input to ensure MOA is within scope of support.
Required Skills
- Demonstrated experience as a Sys Admin in the Microsoft Server (2012 to current industry versions) environment.
- Demonstrated experience supporting the Apache/Tomcat Java Webserver, and VMWare Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) environments.
- Demonstrated experience defining, requesting, configuring, and monitoring Cloud server architectures to include Amazon Web Server EC2, RDBS, S3, and Elastic Load Balancer.
- Demonstrated experience developing system upgrade requirements and implementing upgrades.
- Demonstrated experience moving systems through accreditation and authorization (A&A) processes and monitoring for compliance.
- Demonstrated experience identifying technical risks and risk mitigation strategies.
- Demonstrated experience using Agile management systems and methods such as Kanban or Scrum).
Desired Skills (Optional)
- Demonstrated experience installing and configuring enterprise learning management systems or other enterprise commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) products.
- Demonstrated experience as a Sys Admin in the Linux/Centos Server environment.
- Demonstrated experience working in a DevSecOps environment.
- Demonstrated experience working with Sponsor business productivity tools (such as Confluence, SharePoint, or Bluescape).
- Demonstrated experience using Splunk, Tableau or other analytic or presentation software.
- Demonstrated experience with Sponsor system auditing requirements.
- Demonstrated experience with Sponsor privileged user reporting.
