Executes an array of SOPs to screen, process, and preserve semen samples for future clinical use. This position is part of a dynamic laboratory system that includes primarily lab bench work and cryogenic procedures. This position works with multiple cross functional teams to achieve the best possible outcomes for the populations we serve.

* Maintains demonstrated proficiency with all applicable Standard Operating Procedures.

* Performs Phlebotomy duties with the appropriate California certification while adhering to company Standard Operating Procedures; will also be responsible for donor desk duties.

* Tracks blood draw and urine GC/Chlamydia specimen testing intervals and ensures specimens are collected and submitted in a timely fashion; prepares blood/urine specimens for shipment to reference laboratory; and updates relative communicable disease log.

* Follows up on outstanding/overdue results.

* Follows all health and safety protocols and procedures to maintain sanitary work areas.

* Checks in donors, which includes ensuring that donors are properly identified, and specimen cups are properly labeled.

* Maintains donor supplies, including pamphlets, refreshments/snacks.

* Provides administrative support by reviewing additional questionnaires during donor check-in, filing/mailing/distribution of donor checks, and scanning paperwork.

* Performs cryogenic duties not limited to tank checks and shipments.

* Monitors and maintains inventory of laboratory and phlebotomy supplies.

* Aliquots media into tubes using aseptic techniques.

* Conducts quality control checks on canes/vials.

* Conducts and accurately records routine laboratory quality control checks.

* Performs routine cleaning of laboratory equipment.

* Communicates any errors, accidents or incidents to the Laboratory Supervisor or Manager

* Other duties and projects as required.

* Bachelor's degree in Science, and one to two years related experience and/or training.

* Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals and to compute rate, ratio and percent.

* Knowledge of MS Word and Excel

* Phlebotomy certificate desirable but not required

* Phase-contrast microscopy skills; excellent customer service skills; strong attention to details; ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously; high level of interpersonal skills to interact with peers and management; excellent organizational skills; ability to maintain confidentiality; and ability to travel if required.

* Familiarity with laboratory and medical terminology; training in the handling of liquid nitrogen and experience with pipettes and microscopy desirable.
