The Middle School Superintendent is responsible for supervising and managing all aspects of the Ramaz Middle School facilities.

Additional responsibilities include:

• Manage the maintenance and capital improvement requirements of the instructional and non-instructional spaces.
• Oversee and supervise the facilities team members at the Middle School.
• Formulate and administer the facilities capital and operating budgets for the Middle School.
• Maintain upkeep of HVAC, plumbing, electrical and life safety systems per code
• Hire, train, and supervise personnel and contractors to perform various requirements including electrical, structural, construction, and plumbing projects.
• Exercise full supervisory authority in the Middle School facilities department, including hiring, promoting, evaluating and terminating personnel.
• Ensure building operations meet city, state and federal compliance requirements.
• Coordinate with Security, IT, A/V and Food Service departments to organize school functions and special events that take place in the Middle School.
• Responsible for all purchasing, receiving and supply inventory of facility items at the Middle School.
• 24/7 emergency on-call status.

Job Specifications:

• 5 years’ experience in building technology (methods and materials), vocational trades, construction management, building system engineering, or related facilities maintenance fields
• Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in management, business, public administration and a minimum 5 years of progressively responsible managerial and administrative experience in facility management operations; charter/independent day school experience preferred
• Working knowledge of HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry
• Familiar with NYC fire and building codes
• Ability to frequently stand, walk between buildings, and walk throughout the buildings and all mechanical spaces
• Computerized and Planned Maintenance Management Systems and their implementation
• Ability to manage construction projects from inception through completion of punchlist
• Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal and customer service skills are required. Communicate effectively through email, phone, text messaging and other platforms
• Technological proficiency in Microsoft Office, BMS (Building Management Systems), Payroll Management and Procurement software
• Ability to prioritize school needs and coordinate shared building spaces with the Ramaz sister institution, Congregation Kehilath Jeshurun
• Formulate and implement budgets
• Mentor and train employees
• Work closely with lay leaders in the real-estate/construction fields as necessary for school projects

Salary Range: $80,000-$115,000 commensurate with experience and education
