Associate Teacher-Primary One (Kindergarten)The Common School, a progressive N-6th grade school in Western Massachusetts, seeks adynamic full-time Associate Teacher to work collaboratively with the Head Teacher in its PrimaryOne Program. The Common School’s mission is to engage students in a transformative,progressive education that cultivates a love of learning, critical thinking, compassion for others,and a deep commitment to social justice and the environment. The School is surrounded by 140acres of farm, woodland, ponds, gardens, and conservation land.Salary range is $33,000-$43,000.Qualifications preferred:● Master’s in education or related field● MA Licensure● Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion, progressive pedagogy, and professionaldevelopment● 2 years of teaching experience preferredResponsibilities include working with the Head Teacher to:● Foster a classroom community that values diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice;● Communicate and maintain high standards for classroom management using positive andrestorative approaches;● Plan and implement mission-based integrated units of study;● Teach early literacy and mathematics;● Differentiate approaches to benefit a range of learners;● Work closely with and support teacher partners;● Coordinate with colleagues across age groups to ensure consistency and continuity;● Communicate thoughtfully and effectively with colleagues, students, and families;● Share in the supervision of lunch, outdoor play times, and transitions;● Participate in regularly-scheduled faculty meetings and professional development;● Engage in reflective practice and dialogue to promote ongoing professional growth;● Other duties as assigned.We seek candidates who will add to the racial, cultural, and gender diversity of the schoolcommunity.
